Boot output to capture card ?

Lets hope Amiga moves into 2016/2017 age and install using USB not old CD/DVD.

Also since SSDs are cheap - 32 GB SATA 3 SSD

Minimum games 1080p 60 fps solid.

Future systems - Laptop form factor
Future systems - Thunderbolt 3 for eGPU (external GPU plug play)

2017/2018 software for porting :

Krita paint software thats very popular.
Krita

PDF edit SDK/API,
PDF batch processing like :

cpdf (coherentpdf.com)

PDFTK https://www.pdflabs.com/tools/pdftk-the-pdf-toolkit/

PDF nUP tools

Ditto, or for me just continuing to maintain or improve our browser support while improving our word processing software (the rest of an office suite has limited utility for me since even Linux office suites can't replace Office for some of the applications I use it for).

Quite possibly a necessity, as we seem to think a handful of developers can provide us with the functionality that the hundreds employed at Microsoft and Apple can.

Frankly, except for the slow speed of execution, things are progressing about as well as I expected.

krita is a very good software, unlike gimp. i have used it a lot on surface pro tablet for sketching. well worth porting, the question is what the dependencies are..

thats about what i meant, i have not looked at the source but im afraid it may not the be only issue..

however as os4 has some implementation of qt afaik, i guess even sorts of qt5, it may be closest to a doable port. krita is a valuable app, even though i see that it may not be a priority, since there isnt even people left to make any proper use of productivity software such as blender.

Blender is pretty intense.
And when using demanding software its pretty hard to ignore the more powerful PC I have sitting right next to my NG hardware.

I will agree with you that the small number of users makes justifying time spent on the porting such specific software difficult.
But a more generalized graphic design package would have broader application.

(see, we can still interact politely - Jim ).

Krita is the Number one software Creative artist are moving to. The features of Krita are fantastic and more and more people thinkl it replaces Adobes bloated software.

Krita is open source, Qt port is available, I saw a blog detailing the steps one developer took to port Krita on a number of platforms - even a bounty for AROS might make a developer take on this challenge. I think he made a script to do it (online).

Krita sketch is a new mobile version thats using the cross platform, Qts QML framework thats gaining momentum & popularity for stunning looking GUI/UI for 2016.

Users like nice look of GUI, something different that they can experience fully skinnable - developers want portability, efficiency and reliability.

If a platform does not follow the people, their changes in taste, then the platform becomes unexciting over time and becomes irrelevant unfortunately.

As a community we can take advantage of what is popular and do it right.

For example the noise created by Artists who suffer weeks of unworkable driver issues on multiple platforms is deafening - even MAC - to just have a stable Interactive Pen display working correctly would bring some sanity to someone who just wants to draw,

Amiga could make that happen.

A developer could be hired for $2000 for workable drivers & ports, start on AROS if needed.

Thats equivalent of 4 sales of AmigaOne A1222 @ $600 each. Or create a bounty.

@thread

Back on topic - I would like to see more videos on youtube, Dan makes some good reviews.

I would like to see Linux benchmarks, for CPU, GPU, HD.

Also most Amiga shops need better online support to add any extras for exmplae a better GPU or to use a cheap SSD.

I have had enough watching AmigaOS with the same cpu tools, benchmark software and the same small videos and animations.

The world is moving to 4K, MKV/MP4 video - we should at least manage 1080p 60 FPS.

Benchmarks are a good thing, so users know what it can or cannot do.

For example 4 core Raspberry PI 3b (2016) in RetroPie can handle emulation to play PS1 games.

What can AmigaOne A1222 achieve ? can we play Dolphin / PS2 1080p 30 or 60 FPS ?

Note : Kids are going crazy for a simple Amiga Games System. Unfortunately quick easy Legal ROM/adf system for Retro Pie is unavailable or too fiddly to use.

If we are not gaining a potential profit - then class it as a loss in earnings .

aros has no qt. so as i said, if anything os4 port is more likely in this case.

sorry, but this cannot simply be the case. i had completely no driver problems using krita on my surface pro with its wacom precision stylus under win8.. now, few weeks ago i have thrown winxp from an old lenovo notebook to replace it with lubuntu for underway, and i missed nothing, i can even use it as a multitrack recorder after i simply compiled ardour on it. worked out of the box. plain, simple and not a bloated system. really nice to use.

lets stay realistic. hard to expect os4 or any other amigalike platform will offer such adegree of support any soon, to attract newcomers. porting an application, especially investing considerable amount of money and resources in it should be well thought out and made with the current users in mind.

Me too but I can't get my generic Wacom to work with it (yes I have the driver installed - the pen doesn't work) and the interface can be a lot more user-centric. It might be that some here don't like Gimp, at least they got the interface right for novices (which isn't a dirty word).
