never.
at the time of amiga, pc was considered to be ibm-compatible, while the ifferent types of home computers, such as amiga, usually in a wedge cases were called microcomputers. as practically everything that makes up os4 native hardware originates from pc-normed technology, this hardware can be considered pc compatible in most of ways. alas not in all, which certainly would make its price lower and accessibility along with usage easier.Last edited by wawa on 12-Feb-2017 at 06:32 AM.

| PC Is an acronym for personal computer, including 68k and PowerPC desktop computers. The term was used years before the IBM PC existed. IBM, Commodore, Apple, Atari, etc. all created their own PCs. Regarding the Tabor motherboard, i plan to buy more than one.

Exactly.
Again and again someone tries to rewrite history. Back in 1985, it was new PC from Commodore for the technology press. |

Americans decided to call them personal computers in 1970s when, for example, we Finns have called them home computers or micro computers. (Personal, mini, mainframe and super computer or micro, mini, big and super computer.) Here when people say "PC" in street language they mean Windows/MSDOS computers since ages. I guess it has been different in different countries over the time. All computer makers have called their low end systems as "personal computers" like Commodore. Also Commodore was selling Amiga as IBM compatible using PC emulators to run PC's software in its launch party.

Linux is somewhere rather down of my preference list and - albeit I am no big fan of OS4 - way, way, way behind OS4 on that list. Here's part of my OS preference list: #1 MorphOS, #2 OS3, #3 AROS,#4, (...), #n is OS4, (...), #n+m is Linux. _________________ My programs: via.bckrs.de MorphOS user since V0.4 (2001) |

If it's the same price as the original A1200, then I'll probably get one. My old A1200/030 needs a PPC boost! I bought my A1200 for about $500USD back in 1993, and then C= went bust. I wasn't happy. |

| Well, I want one. I have been wanting SOME kind of sub-$500 PPC Amiga for a good while, they just never seemed to have brought a price down to anywhere near that for a PPC Amiga. When they finally ship to regular (not-beta-test) users (soon, I hope), I plan to buy one.

Well I thought MOS would be on top.
Doubt OS3 will be ported to it.
So this isn't on the MOS team list? I suppose it does lack behind a full desktop class CPU. Then again it's similar to an Efika but a bit better I'd say. |

the same in germany
if somebody talked about "PC" he always talked about Intel + MSDOS (and later Windows). The discussions were about "Amiga vs. PC" not "Amiga PC vs. Intel PC" or similar.
That "PC" means "Personal Computer" and can be used for almost every system is obvious but is not necessarily how people used the term in everyday language. Last edited by OlafS25 on 13-Feb-2017 at 02:05 PM.

Just for laugh, the TLC LOGO advertisment in the very first Amiga World issue uses term "Amiga PC" three times. |

The original packaging of my Sinclair ZX Spectrum clearly reads: "Personal Computer". _________________ X1000|II/G4|440ep|2000/060|2000/040|1000 |

you could call anything "PC" if you wanted
even a C64
Wawa talked about how PC was used by average user at that time, not what was theoretical possible or how it was used for marketing Last edited by OlafS25 on 13-Feb-2017 at 04:50 PM.

MorphOS team does not want to mess with a non-compatible fpu. The e200/603e core (Efika) was supported already and is fully compatible.

Just take your mind into the mid 80s, when IBM PC was only one of personal computers - albeit most important of course. Even Byte described in August 1985 new platform from Commodore as "Amiga Personal Computer". |
