@Thread

And anyway, is this any worse than Apple opening up an Official Macintosh clone program in 1992 for third party hardware and then dropping it in 1997? No, it's in no way on a similar scale. That was bad reseller /third party manufacturer communication by Apple and brutal tactics to turn Apple around and fleece high end Apple customers once more.

In this case it is just AmigaKit selling to the global market again after initially needing a wider distribution network to help launch the machine internationally. If it is no longer worth the while of Amiga on the Lake to stock the machine so be it but why make it personal?

@eliyahu

AmigaKit only started selling Cyrus Motherboards from about April 2017.
So the " he lost any ability to make any profit whatsoever" does not compute
for the period of 8 months .
You might be someone to help the parties mediate the situation as you are know to all of them.

Can the US Amigans get X5000s now? Yes they can. Have UK customers been able to re-import X5000s into the UK via dealers with stock for the past 8 months? No they haven't! Who has the real grievance; US or UK customers? This thread is about a part time Amiga retailer who is throwing his teddies out of the pram because his competitve advantage has now gone. That's it! Nothing to see here other than an angry American who thinks he is the new Amigakit / Software Hut!

that is a massive mischaracterization of what happened here. he didn't lose his 'competitive advantage,' he lost any ability to make any profit whatsoever. i am sick to death of some members outside the US who throw around the word 'american' as though it is some sort of insult. we have been without a dealer for many years, so we were delighted when AOTL started up. to see anti-competitive moves like this does not speak well for amigakit, and demonstrates that when it comes to A-EON, there is *no* barrier between the two entities, except on paper.

to say this has devastated my view on things is an understatement. between this and some other things behind the scenes, i'm damn near ready to take a hammer to my X5000 and walk away.

Eldee, I understand your plight. Really I do. But you are probably the only SANE person left around these parts. When things go really shitty people look to you as a voice of reason. So drink a 5 hour energy, go get a chicken biscuit and dig in deep. You are that glue between normalcy and chaos.

Maybe I did but needs to be said. I do t agree that amigakit is the cause of all this honestly though.

Matthew owns AmigaKit & has half ownership in A-Eon. I don't belive that Trevor has any ownership stake in AmigaKit.

@Spectre660

And that comment from Matt looks quite proffesional. At least, when i as customer read it, i understand that person in charge can be calm, and can hold yourself from starting spreading holy truth of his side. From another side, i go again on that aotl site, and that post with pointing on fingers attract no respect, and i will think twice to buy from such a company even if they will sort issues. Because done once, will be done again, and that can be any other sort of problem they meet with.

Well, we have one thing we can agree on Robert (although, you do realize that that then leave us...).

Regardless of anyone's opinions, this situation still leaves the US at a disadvantage as it complicates shipping times, expense, and support issues.

And theses supply issue have affect British, US, and all other customers alike.

So, I've decided to post a new theme song for Matt's company.
In relation to the fact that they so infrequently have systems to ship (although they have had more than Acube recently ).

Its sung to a medley of "I've got a lovely bunch of coconuts" and "Yes we have no bananas" (hopefully with a Jerry Colonna accent).

I've got a lovely bunch of accessories, posted all together at my site.
Mouse pads, tee shirts, things to make your wife red.
But yes we have no Amigas, we have no Amigas today!

@iggy

Great! A really funny post in a cheesy I love Disneyland kind of way

However, it is a ridiculous thing to post when Amigakit list the X5000 as in stock! Right now! Compare that to the availability of the X1000 and it's a world apart. I couldn't give a rat's arse that Amiga on the Lake don't want a piece of the pie any more (their choice / it's a free world) but the fact of the matter is Amiga(One)s are available now. Not coconuts, not bananas but real Amigas!! Isn't that great news in 2017.

And even better if you don't want a X5000 you can hold out for a A1222 or a Vampire board

Happy times!!!

Get your X5000 while they're hot HERE

... even in the Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave!!

God no, I've already explained to everyone that the A1222 repels me like garlic to a vampire.
And right now I'd like either an AmigaOne 500 (because, if I'm going to buy a lower performing machine I want both PPC NG OS' on it) or an X5000/40.
Neither of which is available.

And the little ditty (cheesy as it may be - since that WAS the intention) , as posted suits AOTL, if not AmigaKit at present (although until recently, just a few days ago actually, IT DID).

As to one of Gunnar and the Apollo team's boards, maybe eventually.

But at this point, I don't HAVE to buy it from Matt.

The point being, once that happens, AmigaKit has more control over the market than I would feel comfortable with.

WHICH, at this point, points out something about our market.
We just went from two suppliers of systems to one.

So, while I'll probably still buy an X5000 (as I'm sure Trevor won't leverage his advantage in order to raise prices), it still makes me glad my primary NG OS is moving to X64.

AND, the primary reason some of you in Europe are aligning yourselves this way IS because you're shameless fanboys.
But fanaticism is the norm in this community.

Damn I wish I'd been quick enough to think of that.

That IS a good argument, since I announced my intentions quite a long time ago (and would have executed the decision by now if I wasn't hung up over cpus).

No, I'm aligning myself this way because Amiga on the Lake is airing its dirty laundry on the internet in an unprofessional manner rather than...

A) Talking to Amigakit to resolve the differences.
B) Giving a professional press release showing some regret at the state of affairs without being petulant and bitter.

... and also because Amigakit have a history of behaving in a courteous, respectful and professional manner (IMHO & experience) .

The number of people getting "Triggered" on this seemingly simple post is amusing. I got my popcorn long ago for this topic.

I do think it's a shame that AOTL isn't going to carry the AmigaOne X5000. I'm fairly close to buying too. AmigaKit hasn't done me wrong yet, so I'll look at what they have to offer. Right now I'm pre-occupied with my shiny new A1200 Silver case from Philippe's Kickstarter. Thanks Philippe!

Your experience, not mine.
They misquoted me on a complaint about the use of a Cocolino adapter, and led mouse with the CD32 (which is NOT a combination I would recommend).
And they still recommend this use, which as far as I can tell does NOT work (unless you have a mouse that draws even less than the multiple units I tried - possibly a ball mouse, I don't know).

Anyway, this is not the issue here.
Also, I don't really CARE what you guys think about what is and what is not professional.
After almost forty years in the business world, I've learned to follow my own instincts.
And if I felt abused by AmigaKit, after attempting to address it, if that didn't resolve the matter I'd air it publicly myself.

If only as a courtesy to others.

no. its not us vs them like you d like it to be.

the interest conflicts need to be resolved between engaged parties. any kind of community trying to intervene or intermediate, especially upon no real knowledge of the issue in question is only going to make it worse.
