| Well, in the MS Windows world, a lot of software is on a yearly subscription basis. For example antivirus, driver updating programs, web software like jAlbum etc.
So we should not be to dissatisfied with the situation...

| On EAB there are discussions about C64 games costing 20 Euros. Some being ok with it, and others comparing it to basically mainstream steam pricing.
Thats simply not realistic. I purchase software on Amiga and C64 cause I both enjoy it and want to encourage futher developments, but if I start to compare it to AAA grade games vs pricing, I will go nuts. It just doesnt work that way. The customerpool isnt big enough to sustain developers. Even at 20 euros, they are looking at 500 pre-purchases, and probably not everyone is going to follow thru with a purchase. Thats 10 000 euros for years of development...
Many of us would stop working after 4 months for that sum.
Radeon driver probably got a decent salecount, but enough to sustain years of development based on 1 purchase to cover all upgrades? No chance. Last edited by Overflow on 25-Jul-2017 at 07:21 PM.

I pre-ordered AlarCity for the CD32 from AMIGA.net.pl because it looked fun from the videos on Youtube. The base price is €23 but I ended up getting tempted by the boxed gold edition which is €37 + €9 P+P. |

I think Amigans got TOO use to FREE.
Everything I have bought with my eyes open, I wanted! I got those items at the time as what they are... the extras were great (Thanks AEon and AmigaKit)
I f I had a problem, I looked for a solution. Sometimes, that meant waiting for the next "version", which I paid for if I wanted! Sometimes, I didn't buy right away, but waited for the right version for me.
My eyes where always open.
I think we know that AmigaOS 4.1 does not have what we might want. (drivers and browsers) But I know ( and you should too) AEon and AmigaKIt are trying to get us those things.
It takes money, but as you said not yours...
and that's fine, enjoy not being able to use the better tools (Radeon cards) in the ONLY new Amiga.
