If I read this correctly, it sounds like any update is currently hoped to accompany Tabor, but without Tabor there is currently no OS update planned, although that plan may change if Tabor is further delayed.
Do I read this correctly?

no there will be a OS update this year (free of charge), in best case together with Tabor but if Tabor delays further OS update without Tabor |

It seems they need certain hardware related informations to finish the OS for Tabor, most is done already. And they are waiting if Tabor can be finished to deliver a general OS update. If it delays too much OS update for all platforms will be before Tabor release. |

Some of the following is guess work. And keep in mind I'm always lying, to make them look bad:
1. There seem to be two sets of ethernet drivers (in addition to costel's unfinished drivers, which were abandoned). One was bought by A-EON (it's part of the Enhancer update), the other one ("better one, as far as we're concerned") was bought by Hyperion and will be in the next OS update.
2. Hyperion wants to release the next OS update at the same time Tabor is released. But he's got no idea when Tabor will actually be available ("the OS is ready - there's no hardware") - if that takes too long, an OS update will be released anyway and (probably) another one when Tabor hits the market.
3. He's "pretty sure" an OS update will be released "this year" - with or without Tabor.Last edited by cgutjahr on 10-Sep-2018 at 04:35 PM.

Forgive my stupidity, but how long would a production run take if such a decision was reached?

He doesn't say that anywhere, he actually states the opposite: "our drivers completely support the hardware". He then goes on to imply that the A-EON driver might suck, maybe you mixed that up.

| Sorry, have to correct myself: Costel does mention a "hardware inaccuracy regarding interrupts" that A-EON needs to clear up. But he describes the drivers as "basically finished, only some minor things left to do".

What is comes down to is that the driver you were promised endlessly by Hyperion's own management team, were easily created by MorphOS developer Mark "Bigfoot" Olsen and are part of the Enhancer package.
It seems like to best way to enhance OS4 is to sidestep Hyperion altogether. First example, Hans de Ruiter's excellent work, and now a second, Mark Olsen's work.
Look, if they aren't up to the challenge, the community has developers that can handle this.
Sign development rights over to Trevor. Reassignment IS allowed in the Hyperion/AInc. settlement.
Addendum - As was pointed out by Spectre660, the Tabor driver was not created by Mark, but by a another independent developer.
Both created as part of Aeon's commitment to furthering development on their platforms.
Hey, I've taken pot-shots at the entire "boutique" computing idea, but Aeon's endeavor is the strongest we've seen yet in the Amiga community.Last edited by JimIgou on 10-Sep-2018 at 05:19 PM.

Just to clarify
The Tabor Ethernet driver is done by Rene' Olsen. So two different Olsen's did the Ethernet drivers for the two machines. _________________ Sam460ex : Radeon Rx550 Single slot Video Card : SIL3112 SATA card |

Olsen "twins", eh?
Yeah, I was pretty sure the Tabor driver wasn't done by a MorphOS developer. And the two have significantly different network hardware.
Still, its very cool seeing Aeon step up and fund stuff like this. And the apparent "our's is still better" commentary coming out of Hyperion is hilarious.
What part of the interrupt structure does Hyperion think Aeon has to clarify for them?
Oh, and I should offer thanks to Spectre660 for his continued advice, information and counsel both here and on MorphZone.
Aeon, and the community it has fostered, has been good to "team blue".
