at the same time, you seem to take for granted an anonymous blog post published on a cheesy website. C'mon - my secondary school students can read more critically than you!

What you are referring to as a "cheesy website" has been the official AmiWest online presence for more than a decade. It is being maintained by the Sacramento Amiga Computer Club who have been organizing the AmiWest show since 1998. The Amiwest blog including the referenced blog post is part of said website.

For anybody who has been doing at least a tiny bit of research, there was really no reason to assume that any information posted to the official Amiwest website would be blatantly false especially as the event has a long-standing relationship with A-Eon as a major sponsor.

In conclusion, your statement accusing people who took information posted to an established official event website at face value of having worse critical reading skills than second-graders is both highly offensive but also plain and utterly wrong.

Research would also illustrate that AmiWest holds back some news until just before the show, a pattern which also fits here.

Not to mention that the complete show schedule (which I posted) shows a talk about this subject on Saturday. Additionally a question/answer session slated for Sunday. And likely brought up at the Saturday banquet as well.
That is a lot of devotiion being given to a single topic if it holds no merit.

@kas1e

Yes, the DevCon has started. There will be videos posted post-show courtesy of Robert Bernardo who volunteered to film. There is no live stream, nor was one promised. There should be one for AmiWest itself which starts Friday.

At the moment Steven Solie is walking us through the new ExecSG team structure.

@Trixie

The post was written by Brian Deneen, president of SACC, and it looks like there were some misunderstandings. The errors were not deliberate. Hopefully Trevor or Steven will be discussing kernel stuff at AmiWest this weekend. There should be some DevCon videos posted, too, which should have updated information.

The most unintersting part as it understandable that there is just Ssolie working on actual code, and maybe someone from brothers do help (or not).

What is really interesting is actuall state. I assume it all only on planing, raw, and in very alpha (as we didn't see any beta versions at moment)

No... there are several people already on the team working on code, not just Steven and Thomas. Hopefully the videos will be posted soon so you can see what he's been presenting. There is plenty of planning and work already underway.

I trust the people involved. The proof will be in delivery of planned changes.

usual Amiga popcorn aside let me continue with the long time Amiga forum practice of posting off topic in saying:

welcome back old timers Yo, Eric_S, sibbi, Argo

btw, wasn't solie relieved of his highly paid duties from Hyperion last year

After all those years you still trust to anyone who talk about plans ?:) I mean "planned changed", mean that it may or may not be done, someone can loose intersest in working more on it , etc ,etc. Expectually i remember in a lot of other talks from mr TeamLead which never materialized. Not sure why now it should be an exception.

In today realms, if there is no beta at least, but only talks about , that mean it should be taken with a REALLY big "maybe".

Was there shown anything concrete and not only planned stuff ? I mean, any examples on real live apps, any real-live workbench running on top of that new kernel ?

I do trust the people involved, yes. But to answer your last question, no, no demos were shown. Again, let's wait until this weekend for Trevor and Steven to present and take questions.

Just to avoid yet another misunderstanding, although the show starts Friday the streams have always been on only Saturday and Sunday.
You're not saying by this that a Friday stream is planned, are you?

Good point. I have no idea. tekmage would, though.

@Everblue

No idea but given the announcement at Amiga34, I wouldn't be surprised.

@samo79

I've already forgotten most of the good bits. At the moment Mark Ritter is presenting an awesome new text editor. Don't worry -- I'm sure someone will post some stuff eventually.

Trevor's talk isn't until Saturday morning. Hopefully we will have new information soon after that.
