Also interesting to note that Thomas:

Quote:
ExecNG belongs to A-EON, because they bought it

And Trevor:

Quote:
A correction to all the scuttlebut 'news' that is circulating around ExecSG. A-EON Technology Ltd does not own ExecSG. Period!

Source

...posts made the exact same day, as if Trevor is really correcting Thomas moreso than posters in the thread above.
Is there really any contradiction there, or is it just that ExecSG and ExecNG are two different things (or versions of the same thing)? In which case my take would be that ExecSG is what is already in OS4 and controlled (to some extent) by Hyperion, while ExecNG is a newer development version bought by A-Eon.

Just a theory ...

Best regards,

Niels

@nbache

If your theory is correct, then how would you interpret this usage of SG vs NG?

https://www.linkedin.com/in/steven-solie-7a47253/

Everyone here knows this is about "access" and therefore "progress".

I'm not sure how putting an SG or NG extension on this speaks to that.

EG Electrical Engineering background, C/C++. ASM. full stack developer/algorithms, security, OS development, 10 years+.

Someone with a can do attitude, attention to detail, logical.

The core needs to pass many of todays standards, security & flexibility / adaptability - easily portable.

If your spending months re-programming everything for every new hardware that comes - you are not doing it right.

@asymetrix

I was only responding to your comment about AmiWest. Tim would be the logical choice.

Shareholders themselves would have to say whether they have a say in the future direction.

Anyway, Thomas should avoid politics imo. Developers should be allowed to develop without having to make such statements, moreso when those statements are not correct..

Doesn’t that kind of confirm what Thomas Richter said (I presume “NG” was just a typo) rather than debunking it, at least if you by “A-Eon” means “AeonKit” in a wider sense? Trevor IS saying that he is involved with ExecSG development, and even talks about assigning a work group towards SMP development...

@TRIPOS

Not exactly sure what you're saying but,

Some people called it NG (next generation), whereas it is really SG (second generation) of Exec.

Does that help? heh.

Yes, I think it basically confirms what ThoR said.

As there are no official information about what is going on, I will take the liberty to speculate.

I believe there is only one Exec SG/NG, however there are four execs for Amiga. The original 68K one, Exec SG, the one on MorphOS and the one in AROS.

Facts are that ssolie is Team Lead of Exec SG and Trevor says "they" are putting together a team to implement SMP, which indicates that have some legal way of doing development on that code base (and invest in it), which indicates some way of control over it, either now or perhaps obtained by investing in it. At the same time Hyperion asks ThoR if he wants to implement a new Exec. Obviously Hyperion feels it needs more control over the Exec compared to the current situation, otherwise it would not make sense to ask for a replacement. Hyperion also sacked ssolie from being Team Lead of Amiga OS4.

Maybe ThoR just misunderstood the ownership part, but I think the key thing here is that Hyperion feels the control over Exec SG has slipped too far from their hands to someone else, and they do not like it.

As Hyperion does not do much these days, the A-EON side is gradually taking more and more control over the software side of Amiga OS 4?

That is a very correct observation.

NG is just a "typo" on Thomas's part I think.

@broadblues

Reading these threads it does sometimes feel like some of the posters around here would think 'The X-files' are a documentary series. The level of obsession is really off the charts with some of these guys.

Oh well. At least it keeps things interesting.

lol

Sometimes I feel that one of those hats may be a good investment to stay sane around the Amiga waves. I wonder if there are popcorn in that yellow bag in the background?

”Conspiracy”?!

“AeonKit” is a handy term to describe the power-sphere consisting of (at least) two decision makers and their (at least) four companies they control. Nothing conspiratorial about it, so keep your well-worn tinfoil hats guys...
