| It beckons. It lures you into a blank stare. It invites you to lose yourself.
It's the Amiga.org logo.
Born of humble origins and leading a sober life, never I was consumed by the flame of desire.
But as of today, I burn from head to toe as I yearn to know one and one thing alone: Who, name or nickname, sat down one day in front of Photoshop, and put together this abhorrent thing?.
This thing that belongs to the depths of the darkest netherworld as much as its creator belongs to a seat in the Nuremburg Trial?
Just saying.

You write some odd things.
The Amiga.org logo has been the longstanding symbol of Amiga.org since the mid-nineties and the final days of CBMAmiga. It is probably the most "well-known" logo in Amiga land.

As custodians of Amiga.org and it's Amiga Developer Network project, we take very seriously the responsibility of preserving it's long-standing status as the internet's "home" of Amiga. Many companies and websites have come and gone over the years and Amiga.org has continued to serve the community for 25 years.

| It’s not a logo, it’s several logos lumped together.
Sort of reminds me of the old flag of apartheid regime South Aftica, which had three other flags lumped into it... _________________ B5D6A1D019D5D45BCC56F4782AC220D8B3E2A6CC |

The original poster, MEGA_RJ_MICHAEL is of the opinion it is a logo and I would have to concur. Last edited by amigakit on 31-Dec-2019 at 12:47 PM.

Is A-EON still the custodian of AmigaWorld.net? I noticed that A-EON is no longer associated with the site at the bottom of the site pages. Now just states "Copyright (C) 2000 - 2019 Amigaworld.net" Quite curious about that.
I've always admired the Amiga.org site logo however.

A-EON is still registered owner of the domain at least, though this may just be because noone will think of it until the registration expires, which has happened almost every effin time with this domain, hehe :) _________________ B5D6A1D019D5D45BCC56F4782AC220D8B3E2A6CC |

How did you manage to mispell my name by adding an H and an E to it, when this bleeding edge bulletin board automatically quotes the name of the person you are replying to?
You must really be in the business of clustering stuff together.
"The amiga.org logo has been the longstanding symbol of".. I didn't question its age, I questioned its abysmal design, which manages to go where no one ever dared to: one unthinkable level below the fiery pits of pain where Comic Sans and clipart forever scream.
Seriously, how could any sound person conceive that thing? It's not even a matter of design at this point: only an oncologist could attempt to fix it. _________________ I HAVE ABS OF STEEL -- CAN YOU SEE ME? CAN YOU HEAR ME? OK FOR WORK |

| It’s not a logo, it’s - the tilted red square ESCOM Amiga Technology “logo” - the rainbow checkmark/tick of early CBM Amiga (which btw never registered by CBM, from what I understand, and hence was never transferable to new owners. Also very much abandoned, first by CBM and totally by later incarnations of Amga Tech/Int etc, never protected, never defended, used by magazines, publishers, merchandise and fandom since its first appeared on CBM A1000, it is a postercase for public domain.) - the boingball, original Amiga A1000 logo, owned, but not used by CBM, re-established as an official Amiga logo with ESCOM Amiga Technology, yet mostly used by the “umbrella” initiative “Team Amiga” and for the “Powered by Amiga” effort. Later used as the official logo for OS4 and hence fought over in courts numerous times to this day. - The italic “A” is also CBM era Amiga, used on the cases, among other things.
So, if one can group up a bunch of logos and call the end result also a logo in its own right, and even claim copyrights on what is blatant and obvious derived works... effin nuts. Last edited by kolla on 31-Dec-2019 at 02:26 PM.

Yes, AROS was not there yet (only existed as rudimentary Amiga shell and Intuition running on *ix and X11), Phase5 were just releasing the first PowerPC cards, igniting what would become the red-vs-blue wars... and OS4 was still planned as an actual modern operating system.
Amiga.org was an attempt to unite everything Amiga on one site, and the “logo” was a symbol of this.Last edited by kolla on 31-Dec-2019 at 02:52 PM.

The contrast between amiga.com and amiga.org for two decades is very stark. Amiga.org has been a central resource for the Commodore-Amiga and Amiga-like systems in order to unify the community. Amiga.com continues to be abandoned for many years.
Continuous use of the Amiga.org logo for 25 years has associated itself firmly in the minds of Amiga community with the website. _________________ Amiga Kit Amiga Store Links: www.amigakit.com | New Products | A600GS |

But it is not a logo, it is a bundle of logos, and this bundle has even evolved over the years.
- the tilted red square, from the ESCOM Amiga Technology era, where it was the "dot" in the I of "AMIGA" - the rainbow checkmark/tick, first appeared on the CBM A1000 (CBM used rainbows colours already on previous products, and colours illustrated "we have tech to give colours on screen!"), used by magazines, book publishers and fandom all over, more or less abandoned by CBM in the end (yet used in the boot screen), never registered as a trademark (and hence also not transferrable), continued to be used all over the place, never claimed, never registered, never protected, never defended - a poster child for how something becomes public domain. - the boingball, from the original Amiga A1000, owned, but very much abandoned by CBM, revived under ESCOM Amiga Technologies and used by efforts like "Powered by Amiga" and "Team Amiga", used in the advertising and sales of OS 3.5 and 3.9 by H&P, later used (and associated) with OS4 and Hyperion, fought over in court numerous times to this day - the italic serifed "A" from CBM era "Amiga" as printed on the cases and used officially by CBM, very much registered and CBM original IP. The "Amiga" with this font was very often used together with the rainbow tick, but was also used alone.
If I take all the Microsoft Windows logos from the last 3 decades and clutter them together into one bundle... would you call that a logo as well? :)Last edited by kolla on 31-Dec-2019 at 05:05 PM. Last edited by kolla on 31-Dec-2019 at 05:02 PM.
