@tlosm
So move on to Linux, leave us enjoying our passion and stop polluting every posts about OS4/A-Eon please.

@Kolla
Every creative mind need inspiration or rest, that's why It's a good news. But I will really appreciate this using the Blender NLE module and being able to watch the export in better conditions.

WOW!!! Two videos playing at the same time with hardware decoding!

As a technical feat, this was feasible 10 years ago.
On low end hardware.
In a browser window.

As a feature that improves user experience, I am sure that theres plenty of people how there who has been yearning to watch two movies together.
Who doesn't?

WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Best Regards and Season Greetings,

@MEGA_RJ_MICHELE

I am sure you would understand it is quite a step forward for us, despite it being mainstream elsewhere. Certainly a significant investment in resources to implement it.

@amigakit

I'm guessing this will be a paid update?
Any idea when and how much?

@Everyone Else.
Please no replies containing two more weeks or when it's done.

Cheers

@amigakit

As I am somewhat surprised how little is understood about this despite the talk in threads over the years, I wonder if it might be possible for Hans to do a short explanation of what this means and may lead to for the garden variety user/customer?

The technology leveraged in the Polaris video cards for this level of hardware acceleration is only about 3 1/2 years old.

First mention of possible hardware acceleration was done by Hans De Ruiter in his 2018 AmiWest Presentation. (9:28)

@Spectre660

Thank you.

In the meantime I found the discussions concerning different methodology (from Hans).
Amiga.org now requires you to be member and logged in even to read this, nevertheless I believe it to be a good summary:

this thread

specifically this posting

It firmly expressed the "best solution" and illustrates the difficulty in 2014.

Congrats to the achievement.

Cheers.

By the way playing both 3840x1600 videos on my Office Windows PC Quad core AMD Fx-4350 4.2Ghz (Windows 10 and Non Polaris Radeon HD) can use up to 100% CPU .

So this is a huge achivement by Hans for A-Eon .

And for Entwickler-X for Emotion support .

@Spectre660

Just for you since you'll recall how long we've been looking at these issues:

older reports of testing a/v

Thanks again to @ajk and all others who helped with testing in irc so long ago...

@Hypex

In that case you should be able to click the thread title from link that does come up correctly, and be able to access the entire discussion.

Apparently there are 2 vids, hence the confusion.

One is cinematic resolution and the other 720P.

If you look at Spectre's post you should see this resolution that some folks might not recognize.

I noticed few comment on lack updating of mplayer bugs and so being deleted, I guess this is all related to the MorphOS version of mplayer

I fixed all bug I know in AmigaOS4.x version, also its lot more minimal to avoid unnecessary complexity, the bugs that remains, is bug that is also issues on Linux, or issues that are in FFMPEG and so I guess a lot this things will be fixed magically by the core developers of FFMPEG (where all the codecs are bundled),

Regarding issue that do remain like glitches in sound in AHI_DEV I think I have better understanding of the issue is now after working on other protects, like liveforit-music, and Amos kittens, I will return to fix the issues, when done with Amos Kittens. If no one else has fixed the issues.

Regarding out sync issues, issues this also exists in Linux versions, it might be related to glitched sound, and it also might not be, it depends on codec, the cpu usage, etc.

Regarding hardware decoding that was impossible without driver being updated to support it, so I guess that now maybe possibility if the API is open and available not limited to only commercial software.

i think it is a nice progress. i assume it relies on binaries compiled particularly for given hardware, which probably introduces more fragmentation to os4 platform, but nevertheless. congrats to hand and all involved. it wont sell me on "tabor" but it still may convince some customers.
