I remember reading about Ablaze Entertainment's 'Euroburn' back in the late 90s / early noughties as a proposed sequel to Napalm: The Crimson Crisis but it was quietly cancelled.

... however, the development team under the new name Cypron Interactive (Publisher: Cypronia) went on to develop 'State of War' for the PC and the graphics style is very similar! Has anyone played it and is it worth £7.99 on Steam? It looks like it would make a good porting candidate for AmigaOS 4.x!

Interesting! I sent them an e-mail, even though chances are probably incredibly low (impossible), but one never knows. Perhaps they could make a Kickstarter or something to gauge interest? Will be interesting to see if they reply.

@BigD

Maybe gfx and maps can be converted to the Napalm format, or can be used directly.

Wow, they really didn't know when to give up as a sequel was released in 2007 called State of War 2: Arcon! See below:

https://visiongame.cz/hra/state-of-war-2-arcon/

By that point it looked a lot less like Napalm sadly and with it the hand drawn charm IMHO

Yep it's as expected; a great sequel to Napalm and a worthy porting target for AmigaOS. They even still have the sexy Napalm / T-Zero voice over women!

Napalm EuroBurn trailer

I got State of war a year ago when I saw it on Steam sale for £5
https://store.steampowered.com/app/748040/State_of_War__Warmonger___Classic_2000/

Id say it worth checking out if your a fan of Naplam and see what the squeal could of been like, I still slightly prefer Napalm however.

@amigang

Yeah, I'm struggling to work out selecting, nominating battle groups and then recalling them! Shift + Num Key seems the standard way of saving the groups this but it's not working currently. I like the 'Advancer Unit' idea and constant factory building!

I also like the cheesy FMV and voice over narration of mission objectives etc. This level of polish was missing on the Amiga even on the later CD titles! Roadkill was the exception which made brilliant use of CDXL video cut scenes and sound samples!

I IMO have all 3 State of War titles and played them a little a few years ago (bought them as used CD ROMs). Was not bad and qiute fun but I like/want base building in strategy games what is missing there.

But yes those guys are the ones from NAPALM and the GFX of State of War look hence quite "familiar".

Would be cool if they would respond and if we would get sth. out of it for the Amiga!

I remember I was watching the clickboom.com/n2-site forever, but nothing more happened in those three years between 2000 and 2003.

There were never any screenshots of work in progress.....?

Since State of War was released on the PC in 2001; I think we can safely say that is what happened to Euroburn! It's just that no one bothered to tell us Amigans that a pseudo sequel had been made!

N2Euroburn, right? Saw great screenshots, still playing Napalm. Can I get it to run on an x5000?

You'll probably find it runs too fast though. Pity we can throttle back the CPU frequency but maybe you can run something in the background to eat CPU cycles.

Ha ha! Let's resurrect the whole Amiga Folding team thing! How many people burnt out their Cyberstorm PPC cards in the 90s taking one for the team back then? Considering the faff required to get a fast RTG Hi-Res screenmode setup on a 060 Classic it's crazy the game is also crippled on NG hardware by running too fast!
