It is fair enough to point out some of the questionable moments in the decision making processes because if things had gone differently the A1222 Plus would have been released by now! The fact it hasn't been and requires us to beg for clarification for a release date 7 or so years on from its announcement IS NOT unrelated to this thread. I'm sorry if you disagree. |
No I don't agree as this has all been said a thousand times before and on a 100 different threads. We need a thread that can provide information on the release of the Tabor, not 4000 pages all saying what has been said before. |

Only real change is that A-Cube now have a hands on role.

Which is not a bad thing after all. ACube has the skills to manage the re-design of the board for sure._________________ AmigaOne X5000/40, 2.2 Ghz, 4 GB RAM, Radeon R9 280X, M-Audio Revolution 5.1, 240 GB SSD |

With such a great delay, few more months is not that big deal. Maybe I will buy new notebook first and Tabor later (Christmas 2021?). I was unsure to buy two expensive computers at once, so this is somewhat good news for me. |

P1022 uses a 689 pin package and the T10xx and T2081 use a 780 pin package so this isn't within the scope of a minor board revision. |

Also if the P1022's have already been secured they would have to either take any loss on disposal or add expected loss per unit onto the final cost of the new board. _________________ Sam460ex : Radeon Rx550 Single slot Video Card : SIL3112 SATA card |

Maybe the skills, but they also are busy with the PowerPC notebook...also a little late...
...
The cpu is important, but cpu performance can be gained by offloading to the Radeon cards, like the coming video decoders. Imho. Last edited by bennymee on 16-Dec-2020 at 08:51 PM.

Agreed, sorry for dragging the thread off course with a rehash of old complaints. At one time I had an interest in this project, until the SOC it was based on was announced.
SO, does anyone have an answer to the original inquiry?
According to Spectre the processors were purchased quite awhile ago and the boards were commissioned. If there is nothing wrong with the current design, then production should have commenced. |

Q2 2021: http://www.a1222plus.com/index.php?page=progress
The A-EON A1222 Plus builds upon the older Tabor design with sections of the motherboard updated to address obsolescence of components.
To ensure there are no hardware surprises at least five motherboards are being manufactured to prove the updated A1222 Plus design changes. A-EON has partnered with ACube Systems s.r.l to handle this process.
Following the successful proof of design, the Early Adopter batch will be manufactured and it is currently estimated that delivery will commence in the second quarter of 2021.
Please note that due to the complexities of the project the estimated timescales are subject to change. Further official updates to this project will be made here. |

This is old news. The Early Adopter bundle was a whole year ago and still no update other than basically Covid has delayed things to Q2 2021! What about the next batch?
Have the five prototype motherboards been successfully proved? Are the Early Adopters happy with their glossy shoe box and 1.1/2 year wait? _________________ "Art challenges technology. Technology inspires the art." John Lasseter, Co-Founder of Pixar Animation Studios |

| I know many people see Tabor as a complete waste of time and effort, but I strongly disagree.
It's been highly entertaining watching it unfold and has shown beyond a shadow of a doubt how clueless A-Eon are. Even some of the usual cultists appear to be have opened their eyes about this.
I guess if its released for sub $200 it'd be worthwhile. That'd only make it about 10x inferior price to performance to any competently designed system, but somehow I cant see that happening. Last edited by fishy_fis on 18-Dec-2020 at 01:08 AM.

A-EON needs to recoup they sizeable investment/loses from the first design/purchase of the design from Varysis etc. It’s not going to be bargain basement cheap._________________ "Art challenges technology. Technology inspires the art." John Lasseter, Co-Founder of Pixar Animation Studios |

| It is a shame about the delays to this project, I generally feel there is a market for a low cost AmigaOS4 machine. I think under £400 is the sweet spot and to have a machine capable of playing 4k video is not that bad for that price. I think it would have had more success 5 years ago, now I’m not as sure as OS4 market feels to have a bit of uncertain future due to no information coming out of when or if we are ever likely to see an update to it. _________________ AmigaNG, YouTube, LeaveReality Studio |
