I'm interested to know who is an experienced Amiga developer who is willing to take on some paid work. I don't mean $50 bounties I mean '000s of dollars.

I know most people would fall into one or more of the categories "left the scene years ago", "what time i can spare is already booked up by Hyperion/Trevor" or "I can do it but I don't have time because of day job/family etc."

I'm hoping to find someone with good experience who isn't in those categories at the moment.

[Edit - missed the word 'ago']

@Mobileconnect

Can you tell what kind of a project you have in mind?

Is it a utility or a game? Is it for AmigaOS 3, AmigaOS 4, MorphOS, or AROS? Is it a porting project?

@Mobileconnect

You're going to have to be more specific about what you want developed. Even though software development may encompass C/C++, the skill sets, depending on what you want coded, can be very diverse and without any overlap. The skills and knowledge required to develop a game, a productivity application, or performing system development, are very different and finding someone with experience in all 3 areas is going to be difficult if not impossible on a platform that's been considered "dead" for years. Narrow your search down to one of the 3 areas, productivity app, game, or system development. Simply stating that you're looking for a coder/developer and that there are thousand in cash to be made is so broad and generic as to make most coders not even take you seriously.

You'll also need to find a coder/developer who has experience using a cross-compiler on Linux or Windows since the development tools on Amigas (classic or NG) are so broken or so outdated as to be useless.

@ferrels

Well i seriously doubt there are enough people out there going to respond I need not reduce my options even further LOL but here is a bit more information:

Platforms: OS3, OS4
Language: C
Type of software: Applications software
Porting?: Some porting of open source code for some of the project, for engine 'code'
Amiga APIs knowledge: making filesystems, writing GUI apps using reaction, DataTypes, 2D graphics
Not needed: games/3D graphics related stuff
Comfort level with up to date toolchain/SDK obviously required.

I suppose he’s still dreaming of having a modern web browser developed for OS4?

@NutsAboutAmiga

i'm operating on an assumption part time since i can't imagine anyone being available for full time job. it's few weeks work only if done full time.

@Mobileconnect

Quite a short term.

This should get you appropriate people sooner or later.

Any mid-term perspective? I might be interested mid-term or upwards.

@Mobileconnect

I would be interested in an AmigaOS 4 project.

@TRIPOS

Maybe it's an app marketplace application like Apple's App Store or Microsoft's Microsoft Store

The question I think you should ask yourself is whether this guy comes through as a serious and professional person that you want to get involved with regarding lots of work for lots of money, but I’ll leave that judgement to you!

...or AmiStore? Nah, it involves porting an open source ”engine” from another platform and develop a native reaction application on top of that, and it’s not about games. I’d say it sounds a lot like porting Webkit and deceloping a web browser on top of that, especially given his posting history on the subject.

Yes that’s mid-term and upwards, is what will make it interesting, because if work let’s say a month, and have go social security office to get help while I’m between jobs, they actually wait 10 work days, before giving me money. That’s 14 days without income.

I work 40% currently, and wont mind filling 60% of the time I’m not work, but I’m expecting to go back to working 100%, but I do not know when. I can work on anything as long does not compete with current job, that’s the condition in my contract.

@Mobileconnect

not a professional answer...

You already have a team? Are the devs working fulltime for you already and have no time to do "this project" additionally?

Are you employer with company or on what base you do it?

I am really confused....

I know Bounties (f.e. power2people), there you have a bounty with detailed descriptions and what you get for it. But you not really offer much informations. You must supply more informations about it to create interest by developers. The experienced devs are mostly already working fulltime somewhere.

You must offer more details, expecially how many month it will need and if fulltime or parttime.

@OlafS25

You can, the OS4 installer is written in Python, not sure how flexible the GUI can be, I know was python games ported to AmigaOS, it can be possible do it as game engine, I guess.

@Mobileconnect

I'm interested to know how any real amount of money is available for any AmigaOS app development at all. You mention making filesystems, but that is not a trivial project, except simple handler cases. Amiga particulars aside, are you also looking for people who are trained professional developers?
