Since things are pretty quiet in Amiga-land until Amiga meets start again, a lost treasure chest of Freescale 060 Rev 6 chips is uncovered from Atlantis for the Warp 1260/4060 boards, the A1222 Plus prototypes prove mass producible with working sound and ethernet and/or Metro Siege becomes available I thought I'd start a new thread.

I've just completed BioShock! Yes, really! For some reason I only seem to play it every 4 years after a massive push in 2012 and 2016 (after I got to the final boss and left it there because it was Christmas), I found the old save file on my old laptop and transferred it over and fought and won in one evening! Great, great, great game and pretty nice ending!

I completed BioShock Infinite before I finished the boss battle! Crazy how time flies! I was looking forward to the The Black Glove (cancelled) for similar BioShock vibes but it wasn't KickStarted

I wonder if BioShock will ever be ported to the AmigaOne machines? Doom and Duke Nukem 3D were eventually ported to the Classic 'miggy so maybe the modern FPS masterpiece will be one day to NG systems?

So considering Hyperion are the only ones left who can muster a porting team effort....

... here's another poll!

Feel free to add any another suggestions in the thread but I think I've included all the contenders

I also think that we should campaign for an official port of the Star Wars Battle Pod Arcade Game which would be an exclusive! It's a shame that the ROMs have already leaked online and that the A-EON have no VR headset announced for the A1222 Plus

@BigD

I'm voting for MineCraft. I'd love to see it running on OpenGLES2 + Warp3DNova on my A1222 and X5000, plus, it seems very much in the realm of possibility. For example kas1e is working on an open-source version now (see thread at amigans.net). And we also had a community member try an Amiga-specific recreation. Remember AmiCraft?

My son loves the game, so having it on the Amiga would be very popular in our house. I'd pay a fair price for it, too.

I’m looking for a sequel to what’s probably the greatest Amiga ever released, Yolanda. I would also like to add this is Frankos favorite game.

1) There's no pancakes option.

2) Correct me if I'm wrong, but right now Hyperion seems incapable of paying its developers. Why would you ask them to port anything at all?

Erm... there have been numerous freeware ports of games and software ported by others than Hyperion, and they have even ported the same games as Hyperion, so I wouldn't say they'd be the only capable ones who could do this. Hyperion is just the last (but not only) who commercialized this on Amiga.

And looking at Hyperion's latest acquirements, they have failed to port Worms Armageddon, Soldier of Fortune, Realsoft4D, Directory Opus Magellan 2, failed to deliver a working port of Firefox, still no promised LibreOffice port... not too convincing record since their first ports.

@BigD

There be no money to do anything before legal nonsense from Cloanto or whatever he calls himself now. To prevent his actions to smear his good company name, it can be latest games, it needs to be a games that is maybe GPU heavy but not CPU heavy, so maybe some modern games if we are lucky.

I vote pancakes, as don’t think the game that is correct for Amiga is on the list.
I think some enhanced version of some older games will be ideal.

Does that remind you about the wii, if they had the money and backing they get contract with Nintendo, Nintendo be the ideal partner.

Now the “Nintendo Amiga” that be really something.

Ports alone do not a viable platform make. Unfortunately, by switching us from custom chips to PC-style chipsets, the Amiga identity was lost. Almost all Amiga exclusive titles are for classics nowadays and not just recently. I vote pancakes as well.

Wings
maybe they would release it?

But actually out of the choices I alway felt Theme Hospital was an Amiga feeling game. In the reality the only game I think I could see ever happing out of that list is Worms Armageddon, and lets face it even that very unlikly.

@amigang

Theme hospital Corona edition where all departments are remodelled to the single objective of stopping covid-19 - as the game progresses more and more people outside the hospital die of cancer, stroke, heart disease, mental health related issues but you must not let 1 person die of covid!

@Samurai_Crow

Pancakes from me either

With what developer resources do anyone think Hyperion might do ports? Who will finance it?

And as was written... you need exclusive games to attract new users, expecially if your hardware is expensive and user base is small. I do not see anyone investing lots of money in new exclusive OS4 games. Not even Trevor D., not talking about Ben H. And playing some old games you already have on Linux and other platforms hardly attracts anyone.

Chose C&C Red Alert 2 in the poll. I think many users would appreciate a nice RTS-game on the platform.

As for suggestions, I think it would be great if one or more pinball games got ported to AmigaOS 4. I believe there were some pinball games made for PPC Mac's many years ago.

Hyperion already have the rights for the Amiga version of Worms Armageddon, so it would just be a case of finishing it off IMHO! Theme Hospital wouldn't be that hard relatively speaking!

@Thread

Speaking about Wings! Remastered, the PC version has REALLY bad joystick support so that's one thing the Amiga version could improve upon. It's only playable with a gamepad whereas it doesn't recognise right or up inputs when calibrating my PC joystick! Elite: Dangerous and the old X-Wing games are fine so it's definitely Wings! at fault!
