Just found THIS

Quote:

How much RAM did you get Michael? Looks like the 8GB one is out of stock everywhere at the moment.

Michal Schulz 3mo
My cm4 has 2GB onboard, but any will do. Just keep in mind that everything above 2GB is just waste of money as you cannot use more ram than that on Amiga OS

... good news!

THIS looks interesting too!

Quote:
This is Work-In-Progress VideoCore driver for VC6. Emu68 is running here on CM4 installed in PiStorm on Amiga600. In order to test "something" with it, I have run Uae - the Amiga emulator. It is simulating an A500 with 68000 CPU where I have started the famous state-of-the-art demo. As you can see, sometimes it is way to fast, sometimes, where a lot of copper effects are used, a bit too slow. Still, much better then expected.

Anyone else seen this guide to DiskImage mounting under AmigaOS! Shouldn't matter if I lose SCSI functionality!

He says that the CD-Roms only work under Workbench but that should include a system friendly RTG game like Napalm that doesn't shut down Workbench shouldn't it?

And by “Workbench” you mean “the operating system”, right? Any CDROM game for Amiga rely on the OS to work and no shutting down of anything. Double so if it uses RTG as well.

And yes, we’ve been mounting ISO images on Amiga for like more than two decades now - that’s how I installed the OS at least since 3.9 shipped. Glad you finally figured that one out :)

OK, I always had a CD-Rom in my Amigas (the A1200 ran out of stock in 1994 for obvious reasons so my first Amiga was a CD32) so I haven't needed to do this before! I'm guessing getting CDDA audio to work is too much of a stretch with a mounted iso image?

There would need to be physical CDDA analogue outputs being mixed with Paula audio or else some sort of Soundflower-type solution like you get on the Mac for mixing internal digital sounds. Any thoughts?

The issue has been discussed previously HERE but is inconclusive!

ISO (as in iso9660 file system) images don’t have any audio tracks. For combined iso9660/cdda you need a raw dump of entire CD. These images typically go with suffix .raw or .bin. There are CD handlers for Amiga that cope with CDDA and present them as volumes with all tracks available as files, but I have never tried that with an image. In principle that would work though. But this is still far away from playing CDDA tracks from within a game…

@kolla

I thought as much but thanks for qualifying. It is quite awesome being able to get CD32 titles with CD audio running on THEAmiga Mini with tweaks to the settings .ol files. The Amiga never progressed beyond treating the audio data on a CD-drive as something to instruct the drive to play rather than handle the digital data within the system. I understand that kept the CPU usage overheads far lower but it's more difficult for modern use without all the kit the CDDA systems took for granted! At least the game itself should run! I never got CDDA to work correctly until I got a Big Box Amiga anyway.
