@Thread

At the moment I'm able to post, amend posts and even change my signature/avatar if I try it again and again until it allows me! It takes about 4 or 5 attempts it seems! If this rubbish isn't going to lead to the eventual winding up of this website then I don't know what will. From Amiga.org it is clear that there are many that have already given up coming here! It's a sad state of affairs.

... signing off. Maybe see you all on Amiga.org over Christmas or I might come back when I'm not using my computer at home!

Not sure if ist a bug, but it is rather strange.

I just wanted to reply to a posting from Hypex at http://amigaworld.net/modules/newbb/reply.php?forum=14&start=20&post_id=798109&topic_id=41265&viewmode=flat&order=.

For this I clicked the "Reply"-button beneath the posting, got the empty editor window and clicked on the "Quote"-button below, as usual.

But all I got was

@Hypex

Hypex wrote:

- no posting text between the Quote-tags (had to use a capital "Q" in the second Quote-tag in order to get the stuff displayed in my reply like it was in the editor window here)!
Had to copy&paste the posting text manually.
Tried it several time - same result every time.

On the other hand - when I just wanted to report this 'bug' here, it became even more strange - here the "Quote"-button worked as is usual and the posting text was taken over...really strange.
I have no idea what's causing this...

@Dandy

It's funny how you were trying to reply to me as I am getting this bug now! And sought out this thread. However, in my case, replying seems to work, but I can't edit my own posts!

So my bug report is I cannot edit my own posts. Without the source to a post it makes it hard to edit. If a post has smilies and quotes I'm stuffed!

It's blank.

@Dandy

I can confirm this bug. And what is even more annoying, is that it can show up during the writing process for us who press "Preview" a lot of times before submitting a post.

I mean, there you are, writing and editing, pressing Preview occasionally to see the effects, and suddenly the text box comes up completely empty! Everything is gone!

The backup is to copy/paste between an external text editor, but that's annoying. And sometimes you forget that you need that backup plan...

DaveyD is long gone Dandy.

And since there is no longer an AW site developer, it's rather pointless to post in this thread re:website issues.

@TRIPOS

I tend to use IBrowse on here a lot and find if I see a blank I can press back and it usually returns. I use this also if I accidently post before I finished. So I edit my post. Then go back. Copy the missing quotes. Go forward. And paste it in.

I'm sure Safari can go back and reclaim what goes missing. If no modern browser can go back and display text you were editing then it's backwards and there is something wrong with it.

When I try to Edit one of my posts It shows completely blank. This happens when its an post with formatting, that sideshifts the thread. Other posts I can edit just fine.

Spesific post;

http://amigaworld.net/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=42031&forum=25#800946

Ive seen the same issue in the past on other posts.

@tomazkid or _steve_

I'm seeing posts clearly dated/posted after "last login:" date, which should not be possible, since you can't post without logging in.
?

@number6

There are several issues that stem from ye olde server move and OS upgrade several years back. I've run into several issues with news posts and PMs that essentially vanish or are blank - and I have a suspicion that it is URL related in some instances in how the xoops url parser is handling things.

Sadly I am not sure that the website dev will have time to investigate it unless it was a relatively simple thing to fix.

For news posts this could be true as they are queued up - and sometimes I haven't been able to fix them with the relevant content until quite a while after it was originally done. For normal forum posts though this shouldn't happen generally (unless there is a DST related reason).

@_Steve_

It is the commercial pseudo-entity ”AeonKit” who owns this site and A.org.

If they can’t muscle up to fix all these reported issues (some are very serious), then they should IMHO let the sites go to someone else who is willing to actually care for the site (the sites). And ro fix and develop it further.

@awstaff/_Steve_

The empty message box bug seems worse each day.

Clicking "edit" (to correct a post) even produces an empty message box.

This ^ in addition to the error occurring with use of "preview".

I'm not sure if this has been listed, but I tried to sign up and never received an email (it wasn't in my spam folder either) so I tried to contact staff@amigaworld.net.

The email bounced, so I used another email address and I did find that one in the spam folder.

So two problems:
1. Why does everyone flag your emails when other sites/forums don't get flagged as spam?
2. staff@amigaworld.net is bouncing.

Here is the bounce reply:

I was sent to https:/

@_Steve_

There's a problem with posting in the forums. Either its double posting my submissions or posting it again when I use the back button to get back to where I was before. If someone could take a look into this I'd very much appreciate it.

Thanks,
Val

Ok, I've confirmed it happens when I use the back button. But it doesn't happen in all forums, for instance, this one.
