CaffeineOS Issues

Hi all

I've been loving Caffeine on my PiStorm-equipped A500+ but when i try to do use the online updater it says "Fatal Error - Unsupported CaffeineOS Version!"

Details from about window:

version: Zenon_version_0000
Amiga A2000B
Raspberry Pi 3 Model A Plus Rev 1.1
PiStorm
Magellan Exec not in use
Kickstart 45.57, Workbench 45.3

The OS was pre-installed when I bought the Amiga.

Also does anyone have a link to the Discord channel? I can't seem to find one anywhere.

Thanks!

@plechaim

You're not going to find much CaffeineOS or indeed AMiNIMiga support on here. I'm sure most official parties would prefer if they didn't exist despite their usefulness and help in keeping the Amiga relevant and alive in the 2020s! Sad but true!

@kolla

I am not sure what you here mean

Caffeine currently is pure PiStorm

there was a aros 68k based distribution of same name for V4 but that was stopped long ago

How? What prevents it from being used on any other high-end Amiga?

At the Pacific Commodore Expo NW 2024, we had an exhibitor who could triple-boot his Vampired A500, one of the boots being Caffeine OS.

@_analogkid_

What did you mean? Why not use AmigaOS? Is that it?

Prob because everything is preconfigured to push the PiStorm!

@plechaim

CaffeineOS has a community and support forum available on Discord and through it you can download the latest supported version.

It was pre-installed on the machine
It can be used in Caffeine mode or Workbench mode if you like more configurability
It's TCP/IP stack works straight out the box - just put your WiFi password in and you are online
WHDload/iGame already pre-installed
Lots of other useful software pre-installed; web browsers, mod players, games, productivity apps, graphics packages etc.

I have an A1200 running 3.2, but this setup is so much less stressful to use, everything just works.

Yep I've noticed.

@plechaim

CaffeineOS has two main versions i.e. 32 GB size and 64 GB size.

"Zenon_version_0000" is not part of the official CaffeineOS branch.

The official CaffeineOS's version text should be something like "CaffeineOS_Storm_9316". "9316" is the version number.
