Brand new article, not to be confused with the Amiga Corporation Announcement article from earlier:
Out-of-court settlement between Amiga and Hyperion is publicly available (detailed)

Just for fun I was thinking would there be away for Hyperion to continue to develop the 68K/AmigaOS? but just call it AmigaOS4.3.4? With maybe a bit of the code designed to run on PPC and say see it meant for PPC hardware, but it will run on 68k :) |
Nope. The Amiga o.s. (which means: 68k) development will be done only by Amiga Corp, and without parts of PPC/OS4. However, developers worked/working for Hyperion will be free to contribute. |

That's not correct. The new settlement agreement quite specifically allows Hyperion to develop OS4 for "any CPU architecture (including the PowerPC CPU), but excluding the 68K". |
Right, but it's practically useless: OS4 needs a 32-bit big-endian CPU to run as it is, because it heavily rely on the strict binary compatibility with the 68k.
There are no mainstream big-endian CPUs anymore, so this is clearly a dead end.
Another possibility would be to emulate (!) what Emu68 is doing with PiStorm: a host architecture (AArch64, in this case) which handles the required low-endian big-endian conversions.
Anyway, there's no future other than emulation. |

It depends on Michele. If I was recalling correctly and P96 embeds part of the Amiga o.s., then Michele has the right to stop Jens. |

The terms regarding an important question remain the same: it's not possible for Amiga Corp to develop something similar to the Amiga o.s., besides continuing the development of the original o.s. (so, only for the 68k).
Since OS4 is has also its its own, intrinsic limits, the game is over for this platform: is doomed to remain behind (modernity). |

Oh, nah, not like that... Jens has on multiple occasions threat... uhm, rage-promised to quit the Amiga scene should Cloanto win over Hyperion. And now Cloanto has won over Hyperion, so... someone remind him of his threa... promises? Former 3.1.4 initiative taker and former OS 3.2 developer and current P96 developer, Thomas Richter, got a few camels to eat, he's been quite loud and absolute about who's had rights to do what up through the years. And now it's (much more) obvious that he's been wrong.Last edited by kolla on 04-Aug-2026 at 11:46 PM.

My LOCAL, PERSONAL experience here is that people tend to don't honour their word (which is extremely annoying for a Sicilian like me). Quote:

He's very quite because he's not able to digest the very bad news.
On the exact contrary, malko on EAB is writing a lot still trying to support his beloved Hyperion. He doesn't want to accept the reality. Poor fanatical... |

Thank you for observing this. We tried and were utterly ignored yet again.
This further cements what I included there:
"People believe "truth" is what they -want- truth to be."
Thanks again for the mention.

Agreed.
The sad reality is that ALL parties like Hyperion, Cloanto, and other bad actors have all screwed so many with lawsuits, unethical practices, lied, or at very best over promised and under delivered.
So all parties have their hand in the cookie jar, and the damage they collectively inflicted is self evident. Talent has left, people needlessly sued, and the emotional rollercoaster of false hope.
The way I see it the only sane solution is work with what is left: 1. Give Amiga 68k away to the community. Lots of great things going on with new hardware and supporting software for it, and lots of talent still plugging away when everyone else left. So open source 68k and just walk away already. 2. For NG, just use MorphOS , AROS or AOS 4.x.
History tends to repeat itself, if you keep the same people involved. So even if we get another player in the mix, I don't believe for a second the lawsuits will stop and the stupidity will only continue. Last edited by Matt3k on 07-Aug-2026 at 01:05 PM.

Hyperion continue to serve the AmigaOS 4.x community
Ack, but are they allowed to have a built in UAE with AOS3 ROMs or does they need an additional license from Amiga?
Does that mean we’ll eventually see a 68k Amiga of some kind licensed through a company such as Commodore International Corporation?
They might need an extra license for such a device, at least C= & Amiga did not act as hostile companies.
