The YANKS ARE COMMING!

I just received and installed OS 4 on the A1 so pop goes the cork!

Updateing the firmware was the most difficult portion. I tried to follow the instructions for floppy, but soon gave up with LINUX. Apparently no zip archiver was installed from the Software Hut build. So after a few hours wrestling with Linux and Koncourer crashes I gave up. Just went over to the dark side and did the CD route. When it came to that point, I tried to type ver. Of course it did not work as I had to type version. I was a bit surprised to see I was a 0.1.1 version. So I had to burn another CD. Everything was smooth from there except when it came to setting up the hard drive. Nothing wrong with the proceedure or Amiga, but a nasty thunder storm moved in and cut our power off right in the middle of it. No problem, just started over and everything went smooth. The only problem with this is that my Hard drive is now called DH1 instead of DH0. I tried to change it, but was not successful.

As far as the OS goes it seems to work amazingly smooth and has a very refined feel to it. Hyperion have done an excellent job. If you don't have an A1 you have no idea how nice it really is. Custom chips or not it really is an Amiga!

And what even makes it better is I get my own page... COOL!

Woohoo....! I just got OS4 today, and well #### I'm as happy as a pig rolling in the mud

The installation went like a breeze, updated the firmware via tftp and then I just followed the installationguide, and then 10 - 15 minuttes later or so I had OS4 on my A1....

So here:

And for You, the OS4 Developers: I thank you.

Hi Snuden,

Are you using witchcraft or something??

I installed wxp on a 1 Gig B PC2100 ram, 80 (2*40) Gig hd on a RAID stripe setup, with a 2.26 GHz P4 CPU w 400MHz fsb, and it rebooted about 11 times during install, and about 7 more times for all the device drivers for the various extra components I have, all in about 1 and a half hours!!!!!

And yours is 933 MHz or less, too?

How can that be????

AmigaOne! Pre-AOS4.0! Wait'll the final version!

@FuZion

Finally I can do dancing bananas myself. Not because I have OS4, I've had it a while, but because Ralf has explained how I can do them on IBrowse. Lets dance...

Lovely!!! Cheers Ralf.

FuZion.

Loaded OS4 Prerelease today! Had to do the infamous paperclip operation and then it was smooth sailing. It's good to see the Workbench again.

I got it online with Ibrowse through my router without much difficulty. There is a lot here that I don't yet know much about but it feels great. I haven't had an Amiga since 1998, alot has changed. Maybe I can relearn how to work it by the time "it's done".

What's holding me back???

A) No desk space.

B) NO RAM! ( I have to wait until I have enough to buy a 1 Gig sdram!!!!!! ($400 Can.))

I got my A1 AND the Pre-AOS4.0 CD Wed. Sep. 8th, 2004 at 12:30 p.m.!!!! (I sent my check in on May 7th, 2004, WHEW!)

AmigaOne! Pre-AOS4.0! RULES!!!!!!! Or does it??????????????????????

P.S. This is ONLY 11 months AFTER I said I was going to get the A1! (I said I'd order it by October, last year!)

@Atheist

Congrats man!

Hey, why 'aint it up and running already? You got some nerve coming in here and not installing your OS4pre. Think of all the unfortunate people who can't even order AOne anymore since there are none left to buy. ;)

No desk space? Hardly a valid excuse. Not accepted!

No ram? Sell something that's not important like your house or car or wife!

You can't wait forever you know.
