@Cyborg

Thanks for the offer, DaveP has also offered us webspace and this me be better for us to persue as it is a permanent solution and we can't ahve redirectio on the domain, it needs to point to two fully configured DNS servers.

Thanks again,
Edward

@digitaldisaster

Yes, that may be the better solution, because i'm planning to switch from my webspace provider to my very own server.. though this propably happens only in a few months from now, it would mean another re-configuration then..

@Cyborg

Thanks for the offer, DaveP has kindly provided us with a server and HereWeGoAgain has donated the amigafive.us domain name to us.

They wouldn?t be the only ones doing it i.e. 32-way Opterons by next year from Newisys.

New clues can be also obtained from AMD?s SimNow simulator (2004 build) i.e. up to 18 processors. The recent Tyran interview also mentions similar clues.

Does anyone know of any services other than moneybookers, paypal and nochex that we can use to handle donations which are free?
Paypal is good features wise but has a bad reputation (www.paypalsucks.com and www.paypalwarning.com), they are also quite expensive fees wise on business accounts (so you can use credit and debit cards to make donations)
Nochex is UK only
Moneybookers provide no easy way to accept donations

Basically I think I will run a two way system where I will have a paypal account which is easyest to daonte to and moneybookers account for those that odn't like paypal, otherwise people will ahve to send me a cheque to pay in myself.

@digitaldisaster

What's the difficulty with MoneyBookers?

I thought that it was as simple as me - wanting to make a donation - sign in to MoneyBookers and transfer money to you@youremail.com (or whatever). Irrespective of whether you've used MoneyBookers before, they hold the money for you and contact you to set up an account.

Is this not how it works?

My appologies for not posting this sooner but there have been technical dificulties with setting up the domain name (AmigaFive.us) to work with your host (DaveP's) server and I have now decided that this cannot wait any longer.
The website can be found at http://ppc970.happybiscuit.com and instructios on how to donate via either PayPal or MoneyBookers (Prefered) can be found on the "Donations" page.
I would appreciate it if you could allread through it and find my spelling and grammer errors as well as technical inacuracies and bugs etc. as well as sugesting any additional content.
Please consider this a semi-public beta so don't activly publicise this yet as it isn't really ready to be viewed by everyone (For a start the AmigaFive.us email addresses don't work) until I have updated and fixed anything you find.

Cool!

Main page
Page title:
Quote:
AmigaFive - Wothy of OS4

Wothy = Worthy?

Sentence 1:
Quote:
...processors (aka the G5) to the AmigaOne's. Finally...

Shouldn't be an apostrophe in "AmigaOnes"; may sound better expanded to be "to the AmigaOne family of computers" or somesuch

about.php
The "mailto:" link (faq@amigafive.us) does not end in the right place.

FAQ
Quote:
per 6-12 monthes (IT has not yet been decided)

Months, and lowercase "it" (or perhaps replace with "this")

Apart from these few bits, it's pretty good - it may be worth adjusting the layout to make it more readable, and perhaps changing the "about" page so that it is a brief abstract summary of the detail, rather than duplicating chunks of text.

I just did a google for "AmigaFive" to see what turns up, the official site isn't there yet but two links to a topci on amiga.dk turn up.

http://amiga.amigadk.dk/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=592&forum=10
http://amiga.amigadk.dk/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?viewmode=flat&order=DESC&topic_id=592&forum=10

Out of interest, can someone please translate the AmigaFive bits for me, thanks.

Basically, in the bits about the amigafive, they are talking about your project, this thread on aw.net and if Eyetech is going to make a G5 product.

Thanks, all fixed now. I am aware of the duplciation and will fix it eventually. Anyone who wants to work on the site is welcome to do so, just PM me about it. When I am not waving a soldering iron madly I am a programmer and database architect so that is what I have created, a fully database driven site. The bit I'm not very good at is the pretty front end, just look at the HTMl, while I can write pretty godd HTML it is minimalist to say the least and my graphics skills leave a lot to be desired

This got me thinking (IIRC someone mentioned it to me a while ago) do you think Genesi/Thendic would be interested in a MorphOS port or will they only be interested in supporting the Pegasos?
Ofiicially MorphOS is Thendic's not Genesi's AIAK and as such they shouldn't ;et the Pegaos sway thier decission. Also Geneis have shifted their focus towards Linux and away from tha Amgia market.
Worth a try at least. I will contact them once we have a board.

When the motherboard becomes a reality a MOS port sounds like a good idea.
But if you intend to do further business with Genesi I will not donate anything to the project. I have nothing against MOS, but doing business with Gensi is likely to cause trouble.

I guess Ralph Schmidt is the guy to talk to concerning a MOS port, but I guess some of the MOS user that visit this site will correct me if I'm wrong.

@Troels

I have nothing against Genesi but I will not be conducting any form of buisiness with them for the simple reason they are a competitor to both this project and Hyperion, and Eyetech's AmigaOS/AmgiaOne products, esspecailly if they are, as they keep insisting developing a G5 board.

If you have some contact info for the MorphOS team or Thendic then can you please give it to me. IIRC it is the MorphOS team, not Genesi or Thendic that owns the rights to MorphOS

Some interesting stats for you. maybe it's just the fact that it's an amgia site but here are the latest browser agents reported.

Total: 23

Linux Total: 3
Konquerer: 1,
Mozilla: 1,
Firefox: 1,

Windows Total: 11
Firefox: 6,
Mozilla: 1,
IE: 3,
Opera: 1,

Mac OS Total: 3
Camio: 1
Fierfox: 1,
Safari: 1,

Amiga OS Total: 3
IBrowse: 2,
Vogager: 1,

BeOS Total: 3
NetPositive: 1,
Firefox: 1,
Mozilla: 1.

Linux, Mac OS, BeOS and Amiga OS all get 3 each and windows gets 11 (No surprise there really). The real surprise is the number of Firefox Windows users (Probably just people internested in Amiga OS are less likely to use IE as they have common sense)
Also, of all the platforms that have visited the site so far, Mozilla was used at least once on all of them - with the exception of Amiga OS, for obvious reasons - and there are no Linux PPC vistiors which means al the A1 owners either have a Windows/Mac machine or are using IBrowse!

A quick note about how these stats were collected, only the index.php page was used to log them and I only included one hit from each unique browser/IP combenation, different browsers on the same IP each got counted. One of the Firefox/Linux ones is me (God I wish it was IBrowse/AmigaOS).
And on a slightly different, but sill statistics related, point... I just realised that this is my 200th post.
