You can find a lot of tape images at http://tapes.c64.no. As for disk images, http://www.c64.com can be a place to start even though it doesn't have all that many games. If you want access to almost all games, try to get your hands on the GB64 collection (the games aren't available online, but can be found in newsgroups, like alt.binaries.emulators.misc and probably in most P2P networks). Lemon64 no longer have any games for download, but it has lots of information about games and a very nice forum. For C64 news, http://www.c64.sk is the best there is IMHO. The C64 Scene Database is a great source for C64 scene stuff like demos, as is http://c64.ch/. Games That Weren't C64 has a lot of information about games which, for one reason or another, never were finished and/or released for the C64. They have even managed to track down and release some previously unreleased games like for example the C64 version of "Solar Jetman".

Is there a way to create TAP files on the A1? Perhaps by sampling the tapes and converting them somehow? I didn't find anything suitable on the net.
I have lots of old datasette tapes with self-written programs lying around that I would love to see again.

Alex.

The reccomended way to transfer tapes is using a real C64 datasette. Another pretty common way to transfer tapes, is through sampling it with a soundcard using a HiFi-tapedeck. DON'T DO IT!!!! It's a TERRIBLE way of dumping tapes, and the error-rate is VERY high. It's quite high even using a real datasette.

I've completely forgotten about this thread. Until the new thread about vice.
I will try this program. Thanks, densho!

Yes I've read this before. But I don't have a real datasette anymore, so I will have to try sampling it. Better than nothing. I did this before with a Plus 4 emulation on Wi***ws using a sound sample directly inside the emulation and it worked very well.

Time to activate this thread again. The VICE port is progressing slowly but surely and a new release based on the latest VICE (1.16) is available.

Get it here.

@AmiDog

Thanks much! v1.15 wasn't bad...

I d/l'ed Vice and 'UnARCed to ram, but "UnTarMeUp" went into GrimReaper. I haven't used this program since OS4 pre. Did you think all the updates don't work with "untarmeup" anymore?
Anyway, linux doesn't object to .tar gz files.

@AmiDog

I've a problem...
1 - Now when I load c64disk images vice reset always c64 and rhen I can't swap disks...
2 - Was possible to edit keymap file to use cursor keys for joy movements and (for eaxmple) ctrl or amiga keys) for fire? The way joy is mapped now was very ugly for me :(
Thanks

Tuxedo.

@Tuxedo

I can second that, everytime one attach a new disk a reset is performed, makes
it impossible to play 2 disk based games, which rely on diskdrive 8
e.g. The Seven Cities of Gold

Or is there a prefs somewhere?

1. Oops. I've fixed the bug and replaced the archives with fixed ones, so you need to download again.
2. It's a bit tricky to edit the keymap files, but there will be a GUI for the joy settings. You could add these line:

76 -2 8
77 -2 2
78 -2 6
79 -2 4
99 -2 0

to the end of the file VICE/C64/amiga_pos.vkm to change the joystick emulation to cursor keys + ctrl.
