@Senex

Thank you for your clarification and I hope the best for you and your company.

In the near future I will need a complete (like your) STB...

@Senex

Good luck with the company. It's good to see some progression using the latest Amigas.

@MikeB
I think "involved" is not the right or appropriate term Anyway, thanks for the good luck wishes.
Please note however that we do not confirm any OS besides linux for the stb. This is exactly the reason why we wanted te keep a low profile; in order to avoid such speculations.

@all
Thank you for your nice comments!

@ComputerCity

IMO if I would have signed the NDA I would have been involved. Note that the term has a rather broad meaning. Just imagine all the possible conspiracy theories for the usual suspects using certain forums.

@MikeB

And exactly this - your disputable stance in this community - is why I considered it necessary to clarify your words of an "involvement" with our projects. Agitating against "usual suspects using certain forums" - be they 'blue', 'red' or whatever - is not the kind of attitude endorsed by AHT Europe. We are rooted in this community, like this community and want to benefit this community. The whole community that is.

@all

Thanks for your nice comments and wishes! We'll do our best, but be aware that we do also depend on others to reach our aims.

Nice one Martin. I don't care if you agreed with me or not in the past when you were 100% behind the Pegasos effort, that's why I have no problem wishing you the best luck here. I did not talk about blue or red here neither, as that was actually you yourself...

However it's a fact that good people like Luca Diana have been targeted even years after their involvement with a confidential mailing list used by Amiga representatives. IMO it's time for people like you and those few non-specific people I was referring to start looking beyond the unhealthy rivalry and propaganda of the past and start concentrating on the future.

Like I said I am not involved in your project in any way and I think it's clear to see why.

@ComputerCity& Senex

Good luck with this company and it's products!

I hope you realize that putting info about an STB and mentioning Amiga on the same website really fuels speculations, whether they may be related or not.

Seems kind of funny to use www.amigastb.com as an address if the STB in question has not been confirmed that it will be able to run Amiga OS at any time in the future. Why not www.linuxstb.com? (That address is, as of yet, still available.)

Aaaw, c'mon! We're the Amiga community for God's sake! What do you expect us to do with our spare time (in abundance) if we can't fall to silly speculation?! You're no fun...

Seriously, good luck with whatever it is you intend to do when everything's in place!

@Bodie_CI5

All distros compiled for PPC would run just fine on any PPC board. The question is if they have an installer that supports it.

(actually running on a PPC requires only a kernel with support for the board and user space binaries with support for the CPU. There is nothing board-specific in user spare on Linux)

Montavista Hard Hat Linux is a very popular embedded-PPC distro. Personally I prefer rolling my own when dealing with embedded things (I have made a few single-floppy test systems for ethernet and RS422 benchmarking, for instance). But many use Hard Hat instead.

This weeks pet peeve:
Using "voltage" instead of "potential", which leads to inventing new words like "amperage" instead of "current" (I, measured in A) or possible "charge" (amperehours, Ah or Coulomb, C). Sometimes I don't even know what people mean.

Yes, you're right there, obviously. But this is an URL we registered "just in case". The official URL is ahteurope.com - thus you can imagine that of all the leakers, I do like the Moobunny one most...

How can you be so sure that this anonymous person signed a NDA with you guys and isn't just someone who noticed your website and registered URL (maybe read about it in a Mag)? Unless of course this was an intentional leak.

That would make more sense considering you have a website online already.

Indeed. Amiga name tossed about here and there but nothing really substantial. Info wise, it appears to be about "classic" Amiga, however there is mention about PowerPC as well but not both together. Not sure what to make of any of this.

In any case, the ATH-700 board itself looks pretty cool, and feature wise looks to make a very nice STB, even though I would only be interested in something like this personally if it ran AmigaOS.

@Senex

Good luck with whatever it is you are trying to do! I am not quite certain however what the point of launching a web site (much less an incomplete one), and posting here which only fuels the spceulation etc, if you are trying to get things going in the quiet. At this point (in my hunble opinion) you might as well either spill the beans or temporarily dissapear quietly into the night until the proper time comes to get us all riled up!

@MikeB

Of course that's possible, too, but since there HAVE been leaks obviously (so that the mentioned magazine got notice), it's at least as possible that this has been intentional by someone who got information about us either first or second hand.

But I can assure you that it's been no intentional leak by us - as I said, if we would have had a choice, the public still wouldn't know anything. I told you already why, in my first posting here.

Why we do have a website already then? Besides the testing reasons, we especially needed it for our core business - Linux STBs. (I guess nobody here believes we'd found a company without a product to sell.)

@shoe

The board runs MontaVista and Debian Linux.

And why there's "Amiga" mentioned on our website? Well, for example because of the Amiga "classic" product AmiVD we announced in the current issues of Amiga Plus and Amiga Future.

The one line of our products are to bring the money, the other are pet projects financed by the former to support the platform we are rooted to.
