@xeron

because the original ctorrent works in this way.. When I release the source code you can made any modify.. but it is not simply because I have no writen the code. It is only a port of original ctorrent.

the wait is made by ftruncate() function that does not modify the file if it exists. I don't know how internally ftruncate works. I should look the clib2 source code and maybe write a my function that replace the original.

However I can put it on sourceforce.

What do you think?

@ALL

there has been a version of CTorrent on my homepage for the last 6 months
(1.3.4 dev version) I had a libnix version running but it went with all my other sources. I only announced it in a amigarulez.org forum

@afxgroup

OK, I found it :P

It was named "sha_V2.library"

So I made a copy of it and renamed it sha.library and I put it in my Libs: however the AMISSL/Libs was in the libs: path

AMITorrent still complain :
"Cannot open sha.library!"

the library revision is : 2.2 (23/10/2002)
I got the AMISSL package from IBrowse website, so it must be the last in date...
I don't remember what 68k I choose (68000, 68020-40 or 68060) suring the installation. It work with IBrowse whane I check my bank account so.
Checking the size & date it seams to be the 68020-40 version.

I'm lost..

@Tonton_Pascal

1) Have you reset the amiga after renaming the sha.library v2?
2) I have uploaded a new version on os4depot but you are just waiting the publication

bye

@afxgroup

are you aware of the bug in httpencode.cpp that makes the current ctorrent unable to handle the some torrents passkey's ?

as for ftruncate() there is a somewhat usable amiga function called SetFileSize() which with some massaging might work for you.

I used it to write a replacement for truncate() in a program
the diffrence between truncate and ftruncate is that ftruncate
should keep the file open for writing (IIRC)

I've downloaded the last version of ctorrent. No, I've made no modify to the original code so if there are bugs in the original ctorrent, they remains..

for ftruncate() function, yes. I see there is a SetFileSize but I think that with DMA off the speed is almost the same.

However the file with source code now is online and every modify is welcome

You need to get it from the AmiSSL (V1) site, version 2 from IBrowse doesn't work.
You do not need to get the whole thing, only the sha archive and the glue files so that OS4 can use the 68k sha.library.
Copy sha.library and sha.l.main into libs: (or AmiTorrent directory) and it should work

@Serpi & @afxgroup

It works !! with the sha.library in the Amitorrent archive :)

It's downloading, at home, as we speak, a Blender Video (from blender.org)
But I'll check the links you provide, Serpi, thanks

Regards

@Tonton_Pascal

if someone has the DMA active can, please, tell me in what time a large file is created and what is the maximum speed reached?

P.S.
If someone is behind a router/firewall should open a port to use with -p parameters. Only in this way the maximum speed is reached.

@afxgroup

No DMA activated on my µA1-C (A betatester explained me why it's not public yet)
As I can remember this morning, before à left home, some time the speed was over 39000 b/sec( or kb/sec) as writen on the GUI.
My DSL conexion is 4500/512 Down/Up
And I didn't set any prefs in shell.

work:utiliraites/amitorrent/> Amitorrent BlenderVideo.torrent

And I'm behind a NetGear DG814 DSL Modem/Router ;)

regards

Any chance of someone recompiling it for us poor 68k/OS3.9 users?

@afxgroup

Why amitorrent takes ALL the cpu time here???
All others application slow down when use amitorrent... :(
To simply download a file seems very much cpu usage...

Tuxedo.

@Tuxedo
Make sure you have it at priority 0, or lower.

But for large files it seems to take FOREVER to get something happening.

@Thematic

I have only used Bittorrent on PC, using BitTornado. But... it does require quite a lot from the CPU and memory, moreso of course if you download several files at the same time. If you cancel a large download just before it is ready, it takes a long time to start the download again from the same place. BUT the download itself can be very fast. Sometimes a whole DVD can be downloaded in just a few hours (8mbit ADSL)

@afxgroup

Could you make the gui to show the download in percent
so we can have a clue on how near we are in completion
of the file :)

This way i have no clue. Some days i could have
the computer on for a week just for 700mb and some other
time its enough with some hours.
So if we could see this in "%" i could easily cancel
the download if it takes too long time.

And maybe lowering the priority so it doesnt eat up the
whole the cputime :)

Thanks.
