Subject says it all...

Note that I'm not trying to organize something (yet), it's just that I would like to see if there is genuine interest in doing something like that.

One of the most critical parts in such an undertaking is an assessment of the people available and willing to commit to such a project. As such, I would ask that you take this poll "serious", i.e. don't tick yes if you don't really mean it. Note that such a project is not something that will happen in a few days, but will probably stretch out for several months, and might not happen at all...

The idea is really to find out if there are enough people willing to help, willing to contribute in other ways, or if the general opinion is to better go for other stuff...

Edit: Damn, the subject is cut off on the front page... Changed it a little
Edit: Damn, typo in the subject :(

@EntilZha

Yes I would be interested in helping out with such a project, however as with all my interest in developing for OS4 my lack of an A1 (and OS4) could be a bit of a problem. I have a few ppc machines (powermac and a1200/bppc) if thats of any use, but no OS4, and if Im not mistaken there's as yet no cross compilers available. I have more than enough free time atm, and am interested in dev'ing for OS4, just no means for doing so.

@EntilZha

I'm not sure. I have three projects running (maybe four soon and I want to concentrate on that fourth one), so I don't have that much time. But porting a (small) module now and then would certainly be possible. I would have to see the source code I would have to port first before I can decide. And I have never participated in a porting project before, so I don't really know how such a project is organized at all...

So: I'm not voting yet, but if you organize a project, you can contact me.

Alex.

You don't need to reply folks in this thread if you don't want to, we can pull out the nicknames
of those site members that have voted and what they voted for out of the table and send them.

* Although please keep bumping the thread to the top.

Cheers

Dave.

@EntilZha

Short answer- yes, and I am a programmer.

Longer answer- still waiting on my uA1, and I expect it's going to take a bit to become familiar with AOS4 development and SDK, and have some near immediate deadlines to deal with at work first.

Once the above issues are dealt with, then yeah, definitely.

@alexw

If it ever comes to pass, it will probably boil down to a list of "Task" that people can take and carry out, so a model of "casual" help would also work (if the source code is modular enough to allow for that).

@EntilZha

I am a programmer, but I can't commit to Amiga projects 100% because my time is taken with other things... also its hard to program in the evening when you do that at work for 8 hours before you come home.

I would offer bounty cash, though.

@EntilZha

I'm afraid that I have to say no. Not just because I'm not a programmer because I do believe I would be quite capable of helping out with the admin stuff with past experiences from organizing and moderating an OS project website as well as developing an entire community website from scratch, it's just that my hands are full with 3 other projects that I'm not able to reveal any information about at this time. Otherwise, I would have offered my services without hesitating right away, trust me.

I would gladly contribute financially and help with non-development stuff.
Can help with mailinglists, forums, website development, logo, graphics, almost anything fr the right platform with the right people:)

I can provide 400Gb bandwidth per month for project hosting and 10GB space and a CVS
server already more or less set up. Someone else can do the admin and pages for it though.

i would love to help but i think most people here would like me to finish my allready started projects first , so i will say yes but i wont have the time so i will keep the tem members happy with bounities and money and inspirational chats.

anyway i vouch for a bounty system set up per module basis , that way i knew (and others) which tasks beeing performed and we could donate explicitly to that task alone if so.

(seen the aros team doing this and i found that very interesting).

ps:i dont know what open office really is and its not a package i would "really use" other than for home stuff but im more into helping than using this tool.
