@victim

Thats very very strange, similar phraseology used "just a spokesman for a higher power" as used by a certain zeux frontman same choice of individual to pick on in a press release. Maybe a zeux splintergroup

Still, if you say it, I have no choice but to believe what you say right?

@MikeB

I think that was rather their point... I don't moderate, and they don't do comedy. Thats how I read it anyhow

@Bouma

I have no idea how you come to the conclusion the nick has anything to do with anything you would know about. It's just a nick like Blah, anonymous, you name it.

You're giving credit to the wrong people. I know who was responsible for the Dozen Schmucks prank, I recieved a shirt from him.

(I don't know if I'd call it a prank though, he did give people free T-shirts!)

@DaveP "system admin" - implies responsibility?

> Still, if you say it, I have no choice but to believe what you say right?

TBH, I don't care at all if you believe it or not. The point simply is that some people will fall your sad FUD and we will be haunted by this urban legend for ages (not that you intended this by your carefully chosen words).

Ok, thanks for understanding.

@T_Bone

Go on, dish the dirt! It was a prank, not a scam, and as such meant to be humourous. For ages I thought it was Greenboy, then I changed my mind when I compared and contrasted two posts on ANN.

The perpetrator deserves to take their rightful place in history.

@victim

Oh I understand alright There is no point in using ill considered words anywhere and when you do you nearly always end up apologising.

However considering articles on wrongpla.net have been near libellous, insulting, derivative and pretty downright poisonous over the years I don't think you have much to complain about in return.

That's why I am asking.

BTW, considering your avatar do you happen to be a Bouma fan?

You mix this up with making fun of the reality (that's what WP does) and spreading outright lies (that's what you do).

Ok now to reply to your second edit, the System Admin bit.

Yep, I get to see the staff forums and the discussions that are held there, contribute to it and site policy, write php, fix things etc and once in a while handle and highlight security issues and PM the people responsible Recently I even had to step in to fix a broken album issue and twice modify where pagespill has occurred but my main responsibility is co-administration of the system ( oddly enough ). Thats not the Xoops system really, its the whole server.

Given Ive had to explain this four times now since changing role from Developer ( where I did help moderate until we brought on more staff ) it seems it is easy to get very confused even though thats got to be nearly a year back now, or more.

I stepped back partly because I was overloaded, partly because I was getting blamed for moderation decisions that I didn't even make and partly because I was sick and tired of all the deliberate hassle that some people were giving the staff. So now I do not moderate forum threads, news items, reviews etc.

Deary me, you appear to have lost control over your senses somewhat.

Definition of lie:

1. A false statement deliberately presented as being true; a falsehood.
2. Something meant to deceive or give a wrong impression.

Both require proving motive. I can point to what I believe are deliberate falsehoods on wrongpla.net, does that mean you are all liars?

Anyhow, I believe your intent above was innocent, if provoked to rage, so you don't need to apologise.

Dave.

Hmmm, wasn't this Super Club Amiga Monthly offer launched somewhere around the same time that work started on OS4, give or take a month or a few?

If so, that would mean that it's indeed easier to print a few hundred t-shirts, then to rewrite an entire operating system.

It's a shame to see Hyperion lose so close to the finish line, but at least they fought well.

Victim [aka (Ultra)Gelb] owns the Wrongpla.net website and IMO is not to be taken seriously. Surely we will read all about the "truth" regarding this outburst on his website soon enough.
