@afxgroup

About the "Please insert dvd:". Do this to get rid of it:

struct Process *p;
p=IExec->FindTask(NULL);
p->pr_WindowPtr=NULL; // this block requesters

Now all such requesters (except a few fatal ones) will be blocked and you will have to read IDOS->IoErr() to find out the error and inform the user (or not as in this case).

@Toaks

To be able to decrypt a DVD you need a disk key and a key for the current title (a DVD may have many titles). To get this, you start a negotiation with the DVD drive (DVD authentication) to come up with a suitable key. Note that you need need your own decryption key (everyone who pays the 1 million dollar license fee get one).

The .VOB-files on a DVD are devided into a lot of small packets (one sector each). Each packet has a special bit to indicate if the packet is encrypted or not.

Anyway, as the DVD encryption is fairly easy to break, most software out there probably just scan a few sectors and using some brute force approach create a working key.

However, it seems one need to perform a full authentication to be able to read the DVD files successfully, even if the authentication doesn't produce a working key. Atleast this seems to be why AMP2 fail to play DVDs with OS4. The authentication fails in the middle with my Samsung DVD, while it works just fine with the Delta DVD in my A1200T. My guess is that maybe MPlayer takes care of the authentication...

(AMP2 does have CSS decryption, but it's only activated when using the not-working "Play CD/DVD"-mode, not while playing individual .VOB-files.)

and perhaps MooVId support... :)

And AMP2. I'm not keen on MooVid, it doesn't seem to play very smoothly (although I suspect it plays files that fail on both AMP2 and MPlayer, meaning we need three video players, only one of which works on each file, with no apparent logic to which one we need to use at any one time)

From: I'm actually flying into a bug!

Something odd happened regarding AHI and mplayer. I was trying to get the sound to work properly with some mpeg streams, and also nonvideo ogg files. It worked when I added -ao ahidev. I'm not quite sure if that was only with the 17th Jan OS4 compile, or also the one from 24th. Regardless, it won't work now, and AHI prefs weren't altered either.

The config file c:conf/config has been just the comment line as far as I'm aware of. When using default -ao ahi, it picks a hifi stereo mode; perhaps a normal mode would work better, but I haven't figured how to choose such a thing. Does it open ahi.device as a library?

The system is AmigaOneXE G3, so no Altivec. Sound is FM801-based Terratec, may influence AHI mode behaviour.

@Thematic

i don't know if terratec could influence ahi.

However i've made a mplayer version 1.0pre6 except for postproc library (that doesn't work..). Tomorrow i'll test it. Now "SEEMS" that the mpeg doesn't hangs anymore my A1. I have compiled with altivec so it should be a little speedy..

Tomorrow if it is possible i'll post it on amigasoft site.

Night..

@afxgroup

Hi,
Thanks a lot for the hard works. I tried to play some vobs and divx files with mplayer-GUI.
Divx playback speed was very good. But vob playing speed was not what i expected.
I have Voodoo3 3000 AGP on G3SE board.
Also I wonder is there any special thing to get proper sound within GUI? Both 5.1 divx ac3 and vob file sound was very low and only coming from left channel of my stereo.
Thanks again...

@all

I`m trying to get the Mplayer GUI to play DVD`s. At the moment I can get it to
work by adding:-

-dvd-device si680ide.device:2 dvd://1

to the additional parameters, however this also takes over when trying to play
a file.

How can I get DVD`s to work without stopping files playing ?

Cheers

@Metalheart

wait, wait.. altivec has really many problems (but the speed is really improved.. i can see dvd without -framedrop and without overlay..) . i'm try to compile mplayer with gcc 2.9.5 insted of version 3. I've read on mplayer mailing list that tha best gcc version is that.
