AROS compatible hardware

Hello!

Feeling like putting a box together for AROS. Can anyone give me some recommendation for a motherboard that is mostly supported? So like SATA and usb should work. Perhaps even the NIC. MiniITX preferred.

Additionally what is the most modern graphics card that is supported? And what Ethernet card or wife can be used?

Is there a database for supported hardware anywhere?

Thanks!

@Madlax

You might want to ask this over at aros-exec.org. The folks there are very helpful.

This is a mostly modern ATX build.

I was a exploring a mini-ITX but I haven't decided whether to go ATX for max compatibility or take a chance with mini-ITX.

Based on the experience of others it would be best to use your own wife for networking, if you have one, lest the wife dump both you and your AROS machines.

@Madlax

From my experience everything with core2duo works very well.
It is a very good chance audio is supported on the mobo and for gfx-card you can use older Nvidia card like gtx 6800 that is quite powerfull. For micro itx it would probably be to big.
Networking could in a simple way be done with your android phone sharing internet through USB.

@Hypex

Better use your Amiga (girlfriend) as she is so slow that your web-page will finish loading at your funeral before you ever get married :P

@retro

SMP is not being worked on at the moment. That is something for the future. We first got to get things ready for a stable release of abi v.1. There you will have both 32 and 64-bit versions that people can start to develop for and use. The plan is to have abi v.1 ready by end of the year.
We have virtuel memory protection. If app. crash you get a crash requester where you can do different things and if you like start the app. again without reboot.
Sure the app. need to make use of it else it is possible that a bad written app. could crash the system.

@nikosidis

Though that seems likely my Amiga would end up crashing before anything else happens.
