Sonnet library now supports new PPC card wich is BigFoot killer NIC.

Trick is that is actually a network card wich has a NPU, wich is actually PPC cpu, with Sonnet.library it possible to use it for WarpOS.

Seems that it is possible to buy one cheaps as 30€

Quake is running 2x compared to CyberStorm PPC. Only problem is that it has just 64mb ram.

Another problem: not supported by OS4, so there is only limited choice of software.

Other than that, really nice development.

Correct. It allows to use PPC CPU as co-processor. There are several titles supporting it (eg. games like Heretic II, datatypes etc.), but most of these are quite old. Maybe this will change with "new" cheap boards supported by WarpOS.

Best description for Warp OS would be? It is PPC OS kernel (without a GUI), wich allows run PPC native code top of Amiga OS?

@Yssing

I agree, this accelerator cards where not designed for WarpOS, so finding a way to make it work is amazing.

with 64mb ram you wouldnt likely have a hell of free space for applications even if os4 happened to boot at all, so probably not worth to bother to support this system;)

@Goodtar

This card is the cheapest, by far, PPC solution for amiga for now.
I really envy all those who have a PCI solution for their amigas.

Cheapest maybe. But I can only find 1 on ebay in US. SO AMiga demand will raise prices quickly I guess..

My Grandmother's washing machine had a 16MHz 68EC020 in it 20 years ago. Your point is?

Quite common with big-endian processors in networking equipment (for obvious reasons), guess what the output of "uname -m" on most Juniper routers is :)
