We're nearing a month before the start of this year's AmiWest show and DevCon. Even 25 years after the demise of Commodore, this year's show is shaping up to be one of the best yet and the Amiga scene is vibrant across hardware and software.

First, on the hardware front, we will have new AmigaOne X5000's for sale on the show floor. There are also many developments in hardware for Classic machines, like the Amiga 4000 replacement board.

On the software front, 2018 has seen new releases of system and
applications software: MorphOS , Vampire, AmigaOS 3.9 BoingBag 4 , and WinUAE. Already 2018 has been a good year for Amiga gaming with new Classic and NG games released.

This year's show will feature a number of presentations along with more than 20 tables on the show floor. Our featured presenters will be Aaron Smith (Amiga On The Lake) , Jamie Kruger (BitbyBit ), Hans De Ruiter (Radeon Driver developer), SACC members, and more.

Daniel Muessener will also be making a special trip to his first AmiWest.
In addition to working with many Amiga developers, like Entwickler-X , Hans De Ruiter, and Hyperion Entertainment, Daniel has done a lot of work porting games to the Amiga platform, such as the kickstarter hit, Tower57. Join us at the
banquet to learn more about this asset to the Amiga Community.

As always, for those who can't make it, check Brian's Blog or the AmiWest Website for details on the live stream.

AmiWest is about celebrating the Amiga community and camaraderie. We would appreciate if everyone can spread the word about the show. Reach out to your Amiga friends and invite them to join you. The more the merrier!

@tekmage

Amiga Kit will be there once again for the 12th year running. We are proud to once again be a primary sponsor of the event as we have done for many years.

A-EON Technology, creators of the X5000, will also once again be a primary sponsor and attending the event.

This year we are very pleased that about half a dozen developers and beta testers of the Amiga Developer Team will also be in attendance.

There will also be news on the latest developments with the Enhancer Software

I see the site has been updated a bit.

Quote:
Saturday at 10 AM the show opens with presentation by one of the sponsors.

Too early to say which one of the sponsors?

Quote:
Hyperion is present showing the latest developments of AmigaOS 4.

A representative -for- Hyperion?

And from the AmiWest blog I see:

AmiWest rooms selling out fast

So you confirm it's useless waiting for 1.4 before the event ? (And that the word "soon" doesn't mean the same thing in every country ? ).

Yeah, I did not see the answer. So far still nothing. 12 hours to go before the end of the day (in western Europe) so let's wait...

There will be an update to the Amiwest website soon but till then here is a list of the exhibitors for AmiWest 2018:

SACC - Classic items for sale and a display of Amiga NG systems
A-EON - Showing A-EON's latest products
AmigaKit - Selling a wide variety of Amiga focused products
AMUC - AMiga Users in Calgary
Amiga on the Lake - Amiga New Generation Reseller
Chris Brenner - SACC member showing new Amiga hardware
AmiWest Broadcast - Bringing the show to the internet since day 1
Rabbit Hole Computing - SCSI2SD and other Amiga compatible products
Amiga Apps Demo - Display showing the latest AmigaOS 4 productivity apps
Bay Area Retro Computer Club - New users group based in Silicon Valley
Paul Rezendes - Showing off the latest MorphOS, new Amiga hardware projects, and more
Bit by Bit Software LLC - Amiga Software Developer
Michael Salcedo - SACC member showing the latest AmigaOS 4 software

As you can see there will be a LOT of activity on the show floor this year. What's more many of the exhibitors will be making announcements and showing off new products at the show. The best place to experience it all is in person at the show!

Actually, the text concerning Hyperion mentioned in my post #3 has now been removed from the AmiWest website.

From SACC and AmiWest A sad announcement.. Chuck Washburn has passed away.

From SACC president :

Chuck made many contributions to SACC, printing and mailing the Amigazette
for many years that I was editor. He was my right-hand man for AmiWest,
taking care of awards, banquet tickets and caterers, receiving payments for
vendors, and generally taking care of the hotel contract, among other things.

I will miss him greatly as a friend and Amigan. He did all those Amigazette
graphics and developed quite a skill for laying out the magazine. Any of you
who have done that know the pitfalls and challenges that presents. He always
promoted and supported our club in addition to being a good friend. We had
many hours of discussion together.

Chuck, rest in peace.

Although I didn't know Chuck, I'm so sorry to hear of his passing. I can't imagine the hours of time he devoted to AmiWest and the SACC. My condolences to his friends and family.

Indeed, sorry to hear of Chuck's passing.

He was always the cool dude all dressed in nice suit for the banquet. Old school that history has seemed to miss these days. While most of us, including myself was in jeans and t-shirts, Chuck was nice and dapper in a nice suit.

Will remember that of him.

At my first Amiwest in 2006, Chuck was the first point of contact. He was welcoming, friendly and organised the show with professional efficiency. His great attention to detail with show arrangements was not always generally noticed because the event went by every year smoothly. He would liase with the hotel, caterers and sponsors ensuring that the small details that make a successful event were maintained.

I used to call him at home with requests for the show and he would always be accomodating.

My enduring memory will always be the his helpfulness and his briefcase that he used to bring along storing all the paperwork relating to Amiwest.

He will be very much missed, Amiwest will not be the same without him.
