Hi,

I have written some test program in PPC assembler. It runs OK.
I want to test GDB.
si and ni comand doesn't do a machine code step but continue up to the end of program.

I checked GDB docs, and found nothing about this.
Is there something that I need to do in order to be able to use si and ni?

GDB is from latest AMiga OS4.1 SDK.

Regards,
Sealco

@Sealco

Welcome to the club.

I'm afraid GDB is broken in the latest SDK. I don't know if it works in the previous one but it should because I used to use it. I found this out myself. If you have an older SDK archive you could try GDB from there. I also tried to compile the older one with OS4Depot patches, both natively and cross, but it breaks the make, so I gave up.

Better forget GDB on os4: it was buggy even when kind of works, and it give new issues with every update. Back in times i wrote some lame article about GDB here: http://wiki.amigaos.net/wiki/GDB_for_Beginners

If it will of any help.

What we have now for real time debugging its db101 from Alfkil (on os4depot). It have issues too, but it works and usable, breakpoints and steps through them works for sure.

Thank you for both your answers.

GDB is the same in the oldest SDK I found on hyperion site.

I will take a deeper look at DB101. Seems to fail loading some stabs. I will investigate the matter.

I was so used to DevPac on my old A4000

Sealco
