Hans de Ruiter announced his new project...

"Here's a small peak at something I've been working on. It's an FTP(S) server that's:

Fast
Secure
Supports multiple simultaneous connections
And more
It's still a work-in-progress, but is useful enough that - all going well - a pre-release version will be released for AmigaOS 4.x on Tuesday 20 August 2019."

It's currently got a basic configuration GUI (it's a pre-release). That'll be replaced with a web-based GUI later.

I'm releasing it in pre-release form soon because it's already useful as-is.

Just published a followup video giving some of the back-story, i.e., the "why." Click here.

@Hans

Really nice work, bit sick of USB sticks myself, but only thing I know works that won't freeze or lock up filesystem or be a pain in the butt to work with.

40 Euros ??? For only one computer ? /

No sorry, way too expensive. And I don't think you'll sell many with this price

10€ woud be the maximum I think. I don't blame the work being done but, hey, 40€ !!

The amigans we are rich, 40 euros this time, we are a little club of millionaires.
But that you don't listen somepeople your comments about the price, here you don't speak about it. Amiga is the paradise.

Will you please stop your pathetic little crusade? If you have a problem with paying for software, then you might take a look at a different platform.

So you believe that the amount of work involved in such a project matches the price of three coffees at Starbucks? I knew that the Amiga community was in trouble but going this low???

Just bought the software and it works great!

Easy to setup and functional even without GUI.
The fastest way to get the files i need to my X5K

Thanks Hans

@Trixie

Who spoke about coffees ?

Just check AmiStoe prices. Just check Tower57's price for example or Emotion.

Sorry, yes, it is expensive for what it is not for the work involved.

Warp3D NOVA drivers are NOT expensive at the contrary.

I did. When you said "10€ would be the maximum", you basically told the developer "Hey, your work is worth three coffees and not more". Hardly a way to motivate people to develop software for you.

Developers can charge whatever they find adequate to compensate for their work. The fact that someone sells a piece of software for 10 euro does not mean that everybody else should.

Amiga platform has alternatives when it comes to software. You want a free FTP client, try Pete's FTP instead. Are you running an 68k Amiga, use AmFTP for example (personally that's what I'm using without any problems). There are choices to make. Trading is open to anyone, and the seller can ask any price he feels his product worth. It's up to you to decide if that product worth that money or not. If not, then you just pass and move on. Only time will tell, if that price was a reasonable one or not.

@Templario

I have small budget for Amiga titles every year (cca 50-100 EUR), it is bearable even with my not that high income (less than 1000 EUR/month).
