Hi all,

Thankfully, I was able to get ED209 (My Amiga X5000) onto the internet recently. But one thing I don't know is, where am I supposed to download/install drivers? I've also started downloading updates, which seem to install in a standard place to update other programs, but even some of them give me an option of where to install.

I wanted to find out if there is a utility or program that shows what version of software/driver you have on your Amiga as well. I'd like to get the most current Radeon Drivers so I can use the Sapphire X570 APU I got for ED209. Hopefully, this will also allow me to display the computer on my 4K TV in full resolution.

Lastly, how do you properly uninstall/remove a program? Sorry, might seem trivial to some of you, but these are pretty important to know for me and other newer Amiga Users. Thanks.

Ed

For most software, pretty much all you can do is sort through OS4Depot and Aminet manually for whatever types of software you're looking for, which includes drivers. For Radeon drivers in particular, though, you'll want to shell out some cash to A-EON for their RadeonHD driver.

To check what software versions you have, you can run them and check their About dialogs (if they have them) or look at the program information (select an app icon, press RightAmiga+I). Everything classified as a "tool" (programs, libraries, etc.) has a "Version" button/label in the info box that comes up, and clicking on the button will look up the version information for that tool.

Finally, if a program doesn't have a dedicated uninstaller, generally that means you're safe to just completely delete its drawer (or for smaller programs, its icon in whatever drawer you installed or copied it to).

@K-L

Doesn't that come with the OS now?

Cheers

Have you got the Amistore app and the Amisphere updater installed on your computer yet?

You can buy the latest Radeon HD 3.x drivers from Amistore. If you've registered enhancer you should be entitled to a discount which will show up when you log in. Enhancer 2.0 is included in the price of the HD 3.x driver and you'll be able to download that once it's released.

Ah you must be right indeed (it's been so long I haven't reinstaller my system...).

It's certainly been bundled since 4.1 FE.
