| I know that PCTask 4.4 can't create a hardfilebigger than 250mb but can it use anything over that such as 2gb?It works beautifully here on my 1200 but it would be more useful with a bigger hardfile or 2. |

I think it is better to use HDD partition for this purpose as hardfiles are slow (eg. I had a 100 MB HDD partition on my old A1200 useable by both PCx and PCTask).
And of course...

The files in PC-Task44 lha on Aminet is from 1996/97 it was probably old already then, NSD64 patch (large partition support), I believe it was around 1998/99, around the time of AmigaOS3.5, large file support is not implemented in AmigaOS, not even in 3.1.4 because increase ROM size, it's possible AROS 68K has support, but program has to be updated to use new API’s. so no PC-Task44 most likely do not support that, I assume the same is true for PCx, I suggest DosBOX but I don’t think there is any 68K version of it. DOSBox would be newer. Though it may lack a GUI, I don't know. It certainly wouldn't have a JIT on 68K so no match for PC-Task Turbo mode I think. |

Latest 68k DosBox is nearly as fast as PCTask Dynamic and muuuuuch more stable. |

Does it have some kind of JIT mode or PJIT? I don't know how the Dynamic version worked. But I don't recall PC-Task being unstable. It's just rather dated as it likes to use real drives like floppy and I don't remember if it supported things like CD. The only trouble I really had was installing Windows 95 under PC-Task running on OS4. It didn't finsh installing. But at one stage I ran the JIT version inside the Petunia JIT just for fun. |

I did some benchmarks in this thread (post 18)
From my experience, although PCTask was faster, DosBox was more stable (on my configuration) and far more compatible (Dungeon Keeper on Amiga!).
However, our discussion doesn´t solve OPs problem. |
