When I catch a bus or train there is no scanning nonsense, whats the big deal about a plane. If I wish to travel to an international destination then metal detectors or sniffer dogs are OK. As a free citizen I do not expect to be treated as a criminal, and have my travel options limited because of power hungry control freaks in government.
The issue is not that been naked is natural or not, but one of choice. The fact is if I chose to show my nakedness in public by walking through most cities naked I'd be charged with public indecency. Now with this machine if I wish to use a service, I must "strip" even if I don't want to, and there is no proof or suspicion of criminal intent. Talk about guilty until proven innocent.
I say all this without been ignorant of the so called "terrorist" threat. Don't be so happy to give away your freedom.
Cheers, Tim

I guess more people die in one go
Plus the fact planes are used for International terrorists - a bomb on a bus is likely to be a local campain. |

I have a hunch that if this thing goes into wide use at airports, we will see airlines going out of business, because there will be a certain number of people that will refuse to be exposed in such a manner, and in the US, most airlines can't afford that loss of customers. When Isaac Asimov needed to travel across oceans, he took a large boat. On dry land he took trains, I believe, but he did not fly. With this thing in place, many more people will have a reason to be like Asimov when it comes to airplanes. Flying will be something they just don't do, and fear of flying will not be the cause. _________________ Life without the LORD is like a soap bubble without the soap. Without Him, you are nothing. |

How come your banned? I heard that Cape Town was a cool place, but Johannesburg on the other hand...... not a place one would want to visit if they can avoid it. |

This was back in the bad old days when a white elite still ran the place. Apparently you couldn't critisise senior churchmen who were in the same Mason Lodge as the cheif of police. Especialy when you are about to marry into the family.

All that needs to be done is that for the people who object to be able to go through a manual search, which would you rather have, some burly bloke giving you a good feel all over, or a machine taking a photo.
I would have thought that DruidPoet would have more of an objection, they might be able to tell that he is not really from this Planet and throw him off
If being checked like this means there is less chance of my plane exploding when I am on my way to AmiGBG, then I'm all for it.

This is not intended to be a anti-American comment, but I would have thought that after the 9/11 event that the people of that particular country would be more than happy to go with something that increases airline security

Ahaa! When you worked in any government organization your promotion possibilities were dependant on contacts to the "clan". If you were not acceptable you would NEVER be able to rise above the lowest management position.
Of course I was not "acceptable", (read would not sell my soul), and am now self-employed.
As you said, if you challenged or insulted "them" you were dirt.
Cape Town as a place is lovely though.

Yep, certainly is. Apart from the murderous sharks off the coast, the Cape Town area is still one of my favourite places on Earth. Fantastic views, abundant plant life, varied animal life. It's a hippie's dream

As long as brain scans don't become compulsary, I shall have no fear of discovery as I live within this human host's brain cavity. This may also explain why it host that raised the objection of the rectal examinations and not I. Thought I do enjoy looking at the faces of those asked to perform this task as .. Well hippies are hairy beasts.... |

Just a question... Since when is the human body a shame? You're not about to say that the security officers will start masturbating over the images they see, will you? _________________

truth is sometimes stranger than fiction.
call it the cultural divide. over yonder it might not be a big deal. but over here if you show anything in public to jail you shall go but then expect something like this to not cause a fuss. i mean to grow up being taught (Do not show yourself in public this is bad) then expecting the same people to throw away their upbringing in the name of security it seems a bit much to me. Don't know about that.. I'm sure there are some people that might fly more so they can legally flash strangers... |

here's one famous example of this sort of hypocrasy: cry baby It's all about 'do what i say, not what i do' with these folks
as long as the airport security was a normal person, i wouldn't expect them to be fantasing about the ladies (or fellas) who cross their path.
of course, i don't enjoy being treated like a criminal when i travel via plane. these people have got to learn where to draw the line.Last edited by cecilia on 18-May-2005 at 07:29 PM.

why are you picking on mr swaggert? this was a case of him being human. the moral of this story is watch what you say about someone. it makes you look worse when it's you under the microscope.

how will you know if that person is "normal" and how do you define it? from my experience what is normal for one person is crazy to another. so normal don't fit anyone.
