Better buy yourself a replacement battery, it can happen anytime now I switched off my A1, had dinner, changed gfx-card, and when I switched it on, the battery had died. _________________ Site admins are people too..pooff! |

Hmmmm....Maybe it had something to do with what you had for dinner. Make a new entry in the A1XE manual please.

Ahh! You found the thread where I took my information from Kurt Grach regarding CR2032 voltage. Gold star for your forehead.
Sadly the info in the thread is true. My dealer emailed me about this subject.

| Ok! I've changed the battery but with no joy. But I have found that if I leave my A1 on for about a minute my monitor displays a no signal error. I've tried reseating the gfx card, sound card, and all conections I can think of. But my A1 just is'nt playing fair.
Eny other iders? please.

Get yourself a serialcable (or nullmodem as some prefer to say), that will help a lot in finding the problem. I found out that with a dead battery, everything booted as normal untill UBoot tried to initialize the gfx-card, so harddrives and cdroms booted ok, since they come before the gfx-card. Somethimg simple, re-set uboot to default. There's a jumper, JP4, on the left side of the battery. It should be on pins 1 & 2 for battery, move the jumper to pins 2 & 3 to reset the CMOS & leave it for at least 1 min. If that works, you will need to redo your custom variable uboot settings again. _________________ Hate tends to make you look stupid... |

Ok, my battery was down to 2.89V & I would sometimes boot to a black screen or to WB with a frozen pointer. I installed a new battery & I'm hoping those 2 problems go away. If I don't see either problem in the next 7 days, I'd be real happy.

This sounds like additional confirmation of Kurt Grach's information that when the battery reaches 2.89v or lower, you can expect a "boot hang" of some sort.

I suffered this grief about 18 months ago. It recurred several times. A couple of things to do/check.
1. Turn you A1 off at the powerpoint and remove the plug, Go away and have a coffee. After 20 mins or so plug it in and try again, no idea why this works but it does have something to do with the battery.
2. It turned out that my battery holder was not even soldered properly, I had a friend replace the holder and battery and I have had no problems since. Check you battery holder is firmly soldered (don't get too harsh).
Hope this helps some of you.

| Hi @paulsamiga
What's your hardware config? Since I started tinkering with the sii680 card, I'm having bootup problems now and a dead Bus#0. OMG, the 0 looks like a Swedish meatball!
I removed the sii680 and I don't bootup -- drive lights on and black screen of death. Uboot & ide bus are not communicating right!
Next to the battery, the sii680 is the next big problem to bootup. YEs/No/WTF -- y/n/w ?
Edit: This is the second day of my dead A1. No bootup from cold start, but if I hit warm reset, it comes to life! Is this battery low voltage causing this?

OS4 update 2 up to date u-boot PPC G4 @800MHz 80GB HD DVD Rom CDRewriter 512MB mem Soundblaster live sound card ATI Radeon 8500 gfx card don't have sii680

Coz I still can't get my A1 to boot I think it's time to send it off for repair. Who is official A1 repair center for the UK?

My amigaone stopped booting today and thanks to this thread i tracked it down to a dodgey battery holder.
I think this info should be on intuitionbase once they sorted their problems out with the site.
So a big thank you to this thread, you've ended my panic i thought a recent power problem in my street had sent a surge into my amigaone and fried it.

How old is your system? Looks like its a good idea to replace it every 2 years. _________________ Hate tends to make you look stupid... |

Yeah thinking about it i think its about 2 and half very happy years since i bought my amigaone.
So i would check your battery but copy your Uboot settings somewhere because i didnt and had to strain my brain trying to think what those commands were (with a bit of help from intuitionbase aswell).

I have tried all including another battery but still cant get into uboot . the screen died as i was using it yesterday , battery was reading 2.9v so it seems to be the problem , also all was running great until i put in a radeon 9200se
thanks haddy |
