Chec this out

http://www.flightsimtoolkit.co.uk/

Usin same engine could get hundrets totally different FREE flight sims from history style to scifi. Hardware requirements on pc side doesn't look bad even for 68k amigas.

And moust important sources are freely downloadable.

check these exsamples

@utri007

I would absolutely love to have a decent flight sim running on my AmigaOne, we have been depraved of a decent flight sim that utilises a graphics card and PPC hardware.

Would be prepared to pay for the game if ported to OS4 even if it is GPL or open source!

@Toaks

Sorry! not with my programming skills it would be ready after 100 years :(

Someone could check sources and check would it be difficult? I know that portin game to amiga from different platform might take anything between 2 hours and years.

@utri007

Having just looked at the steel swallows website I can tell you that it wants "IBM or fully compatible" - x86. It may be open source but to port the code from x86 to PPC could be a nightmare.

If it were just SDL it would be a bit easier but as this is designed for x86 I can imagine it would take a while longer. Without being a programmer I cannot tell you more but it seems slightly more difficult than just a recompile.

If I'm wrong (Toaks) please feel free to correct me.

@giga

Well I know that making port could be night mare, thoug some old dos x86 games had been quite easy to port, like Doom.

It sad that there is not so much screenshots I would like to see screenshot from Battlestar Galactica :)

http://www.adrianebrown.co.uk/flightsimtoolkit/simulations/scifi/battlestar/index.html

requirement is 386, 486 66mhz recomended.

Who said porting DOOM was easy? For it to appear on Amiga, many people had to do more than punch a few keys (linux port etc.).

Dunno, is TFX open source or even GPL (very much doubt it)

Is that engine coded with C

@utri007

Hmm, i have found something strange on that site:

Quote:

Official Source Code

* FST "FLY" Open Source
The above mentioned code only includes the fly.exe code less the toolset code and any sound
* FST "TOOLSET" Open Source
could be released in the near future to limited developers to bring a new suite of applications built for the newer operating systems including being ported to other development platforms like AMIGA Anywhere or Linux

I've understand that fly.exe is needed to play games, and tool set to develop flight sims.

I really would like to see this one it would bring some many different flight sims to amiga, and I belive that some of those would really fly with my 040 40mhz a1200.

Some of those games looks much better than TFX and some not :)

@utri007

Bwa, it most not be as good as TFX.

Something like A10 Tankkiller would be good for a start.
