That really means nothing. Amiga Inc. did nothing for OS4 or the currrent AmigaOne boards. Oh wait yeah they collected the fee. Ok they did something. So what if Fleecy and Bill want to hang on to AmigaAnywhere. They are just caught up in their own world where AA is running everything. Of course when OS4 and the AmigaOne boards are doing good they will be back. Collecting fees of course.

Apparently it does as Amiga themself have directly affected several different attempts to get OS4 running on other boards.

So you are saying that Hyperion can ignore AInc now and port OS4 to any platform they want ? Licence from AInc doesn't matter ?

Yes, but that is not for public consumption at any rate, at least what I happen to know isn't anyway.

Not at all, I am just saying that given what I know about Amiga Inc and what has been going on, It's best if they leave us alone to be honest.

Of course, by that token, There are some very nice people at Amiga inc, but there are some on there for whom, I wouldn't turn my back on.

I terminated my association with Amiga, Inc.

Hmmm... I wonder why. No really.

This means, that despite having nothing to show after all this time, even Garry's vision for Amiga (whatever it was) is terminated.

I don't care what it is really, but will someone, somewhere, have some vision.
.....And share it with us....pretty please....... with sugar on top.......

Errrr....We promise not be harsh....I mean....well. I promise not to be too harsh.

Well, maybe someone new, but with a clue, and a desire to fulfill the hopes and desires of the greater Amiga community, can have a shot at turning this thing around..
Bill, will you and Raquel stop calling me I'm designing my business card as we speak.

Hey, it just occurred to me.....Has there been a takeover?
Is there a new owner?

Ok. Going back to my happy place now.
We have no hotdogs!!! Oh well, I'm on a diet anyway.

@Muffin

Probably the right thing that could happen. Guess that Bill McEwen and
Fleecy Moss will be back on track then?

How about Hyperion stepping in?

I wonder if Amiga Inc would consider selling, it seems to me they lack vision and energy to move on. Wonder what the selling price would be, I think McEwen paid 20$ million for the amiga licenses and trademarks from gateway, wonder how much the current owners would be willing to sell them for, it's not like the trademark has increased in price, rather the other way round I think. However, the easiest way would be to make them go bankrupt I think, this would mean that a bankruptcy agent would have to sell it off, and I think they would be more willing to sell it for a realistic price than the current owners. It would be nice if the amiga could belong to the users, but I don't see companies in this market paying up xx$ million for a trademark that is not worth so much except for the people in the market. So maybe our best bet is to hope for a Amiga Inc bankruptcy and then maybe some new owners with some inspiration would step in with some new ideas.

@treblesix

Good point, I don't really know why the amiga trademark is useful other then being the amiga trademark. Possible business plan could be to bring out retro-consoles like the atari-flashback or the c64-on-a-stick. And if there were another owner, they could have a more open policy thus allowing more licenses for other motherboards, or skipping the licensee thing altogether and give green light to hyperion to port it to whatever they want. But maybe Hyperion already can do that, I don't know what's in their contract and what's not.

It's there, it's just that suicide attempts can get you into trouble.

Edit: To explain myself... I do not think that any company will try to salvage the mess created by the current (?) Amiga Inc... It managed to devaluate a profitable trademark in a very efficient manner...

I think everyone is tiptoeing around the "Merlancia" connection, as nobody has even bothered touching the question.
