That's nothing. I managed to get it running on my Timex wristwatch. All I had to do was rename timer.device to timex.device...

@pteppic

Are there any other PDA screenshots available?

I have an iPaq hx4700 and I would like to run AmigaOS4 on it (without emulation).

Is this at all possible?

Or do I have to resort to PocketUAE which I had trouble with (and still don't have working).

The question should be:
Is there any PDA with an OS4-license?

@1Mouse

I gave up trying to get Pocket UAE working on my MDA III, I think I posted something on here about any help but had nothing.

If anyone can help I'm still having problems... would love to see if I could get AOS 3.x working on it, or even some old games.

From the Gp32X site

I was very impressed with my GP32 - bought it from the guy while I lived in newcastle - had to sell it. It really is a great bit of kit. A mate of mine is expecting his GP2X soon.

There is also a new one coming out called the GPX or something - its meant to be comparable to a PSP - one is made by gamepark the other by gamepark holidings. IIRC Gamepark was set up by samsung - but then they let it go... hence the split. An open sourced machine and a closed sourced one.

@All

The Sharp Zaurus is the only thing that I found that was a worthy successor to my Psion. It's one of the best things I've ever bought.

Mine is the SL-C750 version (the first of the clamshell devices), which I bought when I was in Japan a couple of years ago. There are loads of (full-speed, or near full-speed) emulators for it, thanks to it running Linux and having an SDL port available.

I made a movie file of it playing Exile on UAE.

Again, thanks to Linux, I have gcc running on it, so I can do proper programming when I'm out and about (the main reason I bought it).

It really is themost amazing piece of hardware. Brilliantly designed, exceptionally capable. And most definitely a mini-computer, rather than just a PDA.

I'd be quite happy with Amiga OS 3.X on my iPaq hx4700.

If anybody has any info on PocketUAE please let me know.

Thanks for any assistance.

Hello!

It says on hyperions new website for OS4 that OS4 will work on all PPC processors from 4xx to 9xx. Here:

"Hardware flexibility: AmigaOS4.0 targets the PowerPC family of processors. It runs on the full PowerPC range, from the low-end 4xx series appropriate for information appliances and cell phones, up to the 9xx series... "

So, it should be running on the 405...

How do we know the PDA pic is a mockup. It could already have happened.
The OS4 desktop screens aren't mockups are they?

@smartroad

Your not mad, and if you look at past amigas like the CD-32 which came just a little to late to save commodore Amiga OS adapts pretty good and can be every bit as easy to use as any kids console. One thing I would like to see on a pocket Amiga though is a set of glasses with the video built in. Not necessarily 3d, although that would even be better, but just as an option to watching some dinky screen. That way you can do some real impressive graphics in a small portable unit that would blow any other PDA or whatever away.

Would be nice to see OS4 on such an device together with a keyboard. However the GP2X has an ARM CPU so there will probably be quite a lot of work to do for Hyperion to port OS4 to this device. But maybe there are other devices like this one around using PPC.

Thats why I said go for the 4xx series of PowerPC then there would be no need for porting (as far as I can make out from IBMs website anyway)

IMHO it was IBM PPC reference design PDA on which AOS4 runs. As it is the only PPC PDA out there. Though not yet available for the public.

PS: it's a mockup made in 2 minutes!

Is it designed by Apple?
