Yeah but thats a Mitsubishi isn't it? Subarus used to look lovely - now they look like a Frog. Evos have always been ugly as sin but fast as anything.
The only cars that look nice and are quick are Ferraris, Porsches, AMs etc. _________________

Anyone seen the new Lexus - the is250? Walked past the back end of one in Tesco's car park at the weekend, and did a double-take. The is200 is IMO a very nice looking motor, but the new model has stepped up the agressive lines a bit more - kind of like the recent model Honda Accord, I suppose.
Anyway, after having written off two brand new Civic Type-R's I'm not about to get a big fast powerful car (or a small fast fun car like the Smart - unless it has a very solid roll-cage!)... the wife's 1.1 litre '96 Peugeot 106 will do for the time being!

Well, that's the car i actually own at the moment
Hyundai Coupé (2000-2001 edition)

It's kind of a "blender", it doesn't has the power under the hood as it it may look like, but i like the stylish chassis and, most important, i can afford it. Last edited by Raziel on 30-Jan-2006 at 05:21 PM.

Only a 1.8 litre engine in the Elise, but as you say, it makes 190hp. I have the same engine in my Toyota Matrix (slightly less tuned at 180hp). You put it up to 6200 rpm, then another cam kicks in and you get a power boost up to 8200 rpm. (known as LIFT)
For a really good video of the same engine in a Lotus Exige, check out this clip from "Top Gear"

Windows or Mac only unfortunately

And they stick out like a sore thumb,so if anyone see's them they aren't going to have a blat against them unless the have a powerful car. what you want is a street sleeper car, non descript looks bog standard but goes like stink, like that corsa 3 posts above, 315 bhp 174mph+ Quote:
From Article In Total Vauxhall Mag We had to ask Patrick whether he'd come up against any so called performance cars and embarrassed them. "A Dodge Viper," he says. "I caught up with him doing 149mph on the Highway,he sees me and we both go flat out,but I stayed right on his tail. I use his slipstream and pulled out to overtake, but we were dead level. He was banging his fist on the dashboard. |
would have liked to see the Dodge viper drivers face _________________

Unfortunately, he'll only be able to go driving with one of them at a time in this thing.
Unless he sticks one of them in the boot, or trunk, as you Yanks say. |
I see your point about storage space for passengers and luggage; it's quite practical to use available compartments like boots/trunks when needed. Good suggestion! |

@Bobsonsirjonny Thanks for the link. Hrm, this looks...interesting to drive. It's got a lot of boost evidently in that turbo (~14.7 lbs/1 bar), but still is 0-60MPH in 10 seconds with a nice Elise like weight of ~1700lbs. (Yeah sorry, US/imperial measurements).
I bet it's fun in the turns though
I'm still looking for a pic of the grey mazdaspeed MX-5. 0-60 is more respectable, but still a very tossable, fun car. It's a year or two old now, but unsre what they're going for used, had a friend pick one up for $22,000USD new though, not a bad deal at all.
|
@Bobsonsirjonny Thanks! Turbo boost is impressive. The MX-5 sounds fun too - great weight and acceleration balance. Looks like you've done your homework on both cars. Hope the grey Mazdaspeed picture comes through soon! Cheers, Wegster |

Yeah, not so cheap but I've wanted an Elise forever.
Ironically, the 'last time through' I decided no car was worth the ~65k USD or so I was looking at (in prior list), but hrm, 42k....I SO don't want another monthly bill, but if I look at too many pics of it in blue or silver, I may have 'no choice!' My self control sucks sometimes on 'gotta have' items now and then!
Sorry, didn't mean to hijack the thread. I just really enjoy cars, although there are so few nowadays to get excited over

I understand your passion for classic cars like the Elise; it must be tough balancing desire with practicality. Remember that owning a car is also about responsibility and costs beyond initial price tags! If you decide on an Elise, make sure all aspects are financially manageable to avoid future stress. |

@Bobsonsirjonny Sweet looking car, what exactly is it? (make/model)
Heh, for whomever mentioned the Elise, don't get me started, near impossible to get in the US AND I WANT ONE!
