| There are various tools that could try to convert 68K asm to C or PPC asm. Sadly none would give the desired result.
The best way would be to rewrite from scratch, then I have clean code, restructured for use with C, maintainable, etc.
In fact, whilst the Z80 emulation core is the bit which would be most prone to error, it would not be the hardest part to re-write, it's quite small. The problem is the whole messy GUI and the control stuff, along with the way it interacts with the rest of the program, making it very hard to do one bit without the other.

You're right! Well spotted. But it looks the same symbol and behaviour here regardless, both with and without MagicMenu - what do you see this with? |
OS4 defaults to using different symbols for the two types. I have some nice red ticks and radio buttons here that I stole from one of the OS4 themes, shows it up nice and clearly.
I had the same problem in one of my programs, it even had a symptom: one of the menu items wouldn't untick once it was selected. It wasn't until I tried it out on OS4 that I realised what was causing it. Hmm... I still haven't fixed it, must do that some time.

I think Amiga Realtime Spectrum Emulator or #### for short would be a much better name _________________ OS4 Rocks X1000 beta tester, Sam440 Flex (733)

Believe it or not, that was one of the names I was going to use... until I realised what the acronym would be!
Then it was SpecEm for a few versions, but there`s a PC one called that. So it became ASp. But now there's a PC(?) one called ASpectrum, which confuses the issue again...

Thanks for the info, I can now get Amigainput to work but I have to load the prefs and use or save whilst Asp is running or it sill doesn't find it. The same applys for Vice aswell. |

I checked at the World of Spectrum page. It looks like 'SpAm' is not used, so I would claim that one to use right away if I were you.

From the news item to keep it all together
Quote:
I haven't been able to get AmigaInput to work through it yet & in full screen, the far left (Off the game screen, it seems to be in the loading area of the screen) there's a stripe of garbled gfx 8 pixels wide running down the screen. |
Quote:
It wouldn't be simple would it? D'oh!
The grab doesn't grab the garbled bit. Like it's not actually on the bitmap (Or whatever it's called). The grab is a 320x256 screen @ 24bit. I am running on am A1Xe-G4 with a Radeon 7500. Can anyone else report anything similar on a similar setup? |

I thought it would be, I don't care what you call it, I'll use the standard pronounciation to call it A.R.S.E., if they can get away with Happisburgh, I can get away with ####

Follow my earlier instructions for AmigaInput.
You might want to play around with the settings in the Settings=>Screen menu. Mine has the first four items ticked, and the last one unticked. The screenmode is 320x240 8bit in 16 colours - you don't need any more - although 32-bit mode works here too on my Radeon 7000.
Does it work in windowed mode?
Chris

Yes, this is very important! Whatever you do, don't enable the FScreen bypass unless you are actually running FScreen...

I'd have thought it would have been faster in 256-colour 8-bit when using a gfx card?
@FuZion
Can I assume it doesn't mess up the display when using Window mode?

Yes you can. You could also ignore me
It turns out that this only happens when I use the screenmode 336x252 @ 32 bit (One of my MAME resolutions). I don't remember selecting this manually. I've changed it to something more conventional now & I've tested out some other modes & they all seem to work fine.
Thanks for the guidance guys.

I don't make any effort to clear the bitmap before use. It is possible that OS4 and/or your gfx drivers work differently to OS3.x and do not clear the screen on first use. (Is that behaviour documented, I wonder?)
I might try adding a clear call on newly opened screens to see if it helps. Do you get a similar problem if you pick a considerably larger screen-size (say 640x512 or so)?

No, I went right up to 1280x1024 & that was the only resolution that caused the trouble.
FuZion.
PS. I have AmigaInput working now, cheers Chris_Y for the tips on page 1. |

Although I can now use a joystick with Asp and VICE I still have to load the Amigainput prefs and save whilst the program I want to use the stick in is running. This has to be done every time the program is run even with no resets in between, have you or anyone else got any tips so I can save the prefs once and they will be available to all programs as they should be. I am using a PC powerpad connected to the mother board joystick port using the hornet driver. Last edited by Arnie on 05-May-2006 at 05:54 PM.
