I was boored, so I started to clone ATC's gui..

Should I continue to clone the hole gui? and then give it away to someone how can add the net functions later?

I've already started work on an OS4 native FTP client. The GUI should be better than ATC, if I do it right.

Edit: But that doesn't mean there isn't room for competition

In our small market where we must add new software to the platform, there is no room for competition.

Maybe a FTP server would be nice, if nobody's already on it.

I would imagine it's relatively easy to ride daddies coat-tails for contacts and then apply then to the grant daddy gives you so you can buy your coders.

Mencoder is one which springs to mind...

Maybe we should start a topic with a list of CLI-based programs which could do with a GUI? rxMUI on Aminet is all you need to create a GUI for programs, and all you need is a very basic understanding of AREXX (or any other language).

or maybe instead we should encourage people to make gui's? , teach them how and hope that jamies AVD GUI BUILDER will rule the world , anyway i love the gui rwo did (and i dont hate the orginal gui either which is rather good btw :)) and i think he should continue it but i think we need mroe gui workers , we allready have a few great ones and i like to think that both of them are swedish and allready made a few very nice gui's for some of the best tools around... like thempegguiencoder and mplayer and warpsnes and so on.

IMO, lets make more gui's, i dont care if we get a million for each program as there is always room for improvements and sadly i must admit that there is a hell of a lot of crappy gui's out there today (in everything from commercial games/tools to homebrew tools) and yes...by that i mean on any console and comuter out there..not just on the Amiga.


ps:reactor is not that hard to use but its time consuming to learn how to do real design and ofcourse there is thoose problems ....but yes AVD is comming and i hope to be able to dump hundreds of gui's made with it on OS4Depot one day.


hhhhhmm sounded like a rant... ok...i'll let it stay as i think i may have a point ...or maybe not.
