It's expensive because there are few published. I think they do a great job and don't mind them adding a beautiful colour cover as and extra expensive flair. I nominate the Total team to the future Amiga Hall of Fame. Good work guys! John Paul |

$27.85 (USA), for only 4 issues, is VERY expensive |
We charge £15 for a years sub (4 issues) in USA working out at £3.75 per magazine (less than the price of a packet of cigarettes in the UK), I don't think thats expensive for a magazine that gets delivered to your door!
We are on a limited run due to the number of subscribers we have and that my friend makes per copy more expensive than we would like, Total Amiga is a non-profit organisation and we are doing our best to keep costs down, you just can't make all people happy I guess?

I read and contributed to the mag 2002-03, but since then my POV on the Amiga situation has completely changed.
- MAC is now my main platform - My optimism for the Amiga has dwindled considerably - As a result of both the above, I am not as interested in general
Although I like to check up on it now and again, and I have an Amiga 600... I think if there was a more 50/50 classic/NG Amiga coverage I would re-subscribe but why read about upgrades etc for a machine I do not have. I've had an A1200 but a 600 is all I want these days for classic games. _________________ Founder of NWAG - North West Amiga Group

| Question,
I have not had an Amiga in about 15 years. So, to say that my Amiga user skills and knowledge are rusty and outdated would be an understatement. What kind of articles does Total Amiga have? As someone hoping to get an OS4 powered computer as soon as avaliable. Will Total Amiga be a place that will have information and articles to help me get the most out of the OS and Hardware? Or, is it more of Developer type of thing? I have never seen one so I don't know what type of format they have.

We have reviews, previews, interviews, tutorials and cover the whole Amiga scene. We also have articles on MorphOS as we have a MorphOS user and conributor in our ranks.
We cover hardware and software and have lots of news items and expand on items in laymans terms to explain things easily.

Yes indeed, we have a regular OS4 update section (several team members are OS4 beta testers) where we explaing the workings of OS4 etc. We will of course review any OS4 capable hardware as and when it comes out and we are able to get our grubby mitts on it!

It is aimed mainly at users, but we do have articles on coding (including out run of C coding articles) and development stuff too. We basically encompass the whole Amiga scene.
Why not go to http://www.totalamiga.org click on the back issues button and download an out of print copy or two of earlier issues (in PDF format) and have a look and see what you think?_________________ SAM 460 with 2GB or RAM, 1000GB HD, 4 port SATA, DVDRW drive and Radeon HD 4650 GFX card. |

| @sicky How about direct bank transfer? That is currently my only option for european orders. For that you should have a bank account with IBAN number, and such detail, and I could order for several years to come!
(If you want to know, I even ordered the american INFO magazine with 100 $ price, and got only one single number. Also I had an continuous order of Amiga Shopper, but with my last payment I did not get all the numbers. Now only the payment possibilities are keeping me from ordering your paper!)

I will look into it, we (SEAL) have a business bank account and I should imagine it is possible._________________ SAM 460 with 2GB or RAM, 1000GB HD, 4 port SATA, DVDRW drive and Radeon HD 4650 GFX card. |

Thank you.
I will wait for your answer, and make the order tomorrow then. Now it is time to go to home (nearly 100 overtime hours, without extra pay...)
If you cannot give the details to the IBAN publicly, you may still contact me to my e-mail. The adress there shoud be correct.

Thank you for the reply. I will download one and take a look.
P.S. How do I know which ones are avaliable in PDF? How far back do I need to go? I took a look at the last few, one said PDF availbe soon, they didn't say anything about PDF... Last edited by DFergATL on 11-Oct-2006 at 03:36 PM.

If you look in the back issues list on our site, you'll see there's a PDF link below the cover image for each issue which has a PDF available.
The most recent issue with a PDF is 19, issue 22 has sold out but I haven't generated a PDF yet.
Hope you enjoy the magazines,

You are up to 601 now!
I'd love to get issue 23, could you send me that one and 24 and consider those the first two issues of my 4-issue subscription? I mainly want to read the David Haynie interview.
Thanks, Simon _________________

I understand the reason that the price is high.
Have you considered a purely electronic version?
It would eliminate the printing cost. You could either email it to subscribers or have a secure download for subscribers.
I did the digital version of PC Mag a few years ago and I enjoyed the format much more than the printed version. It cost me ~$30 for 3 year (2 issues/month). Of course I relize that they have 100's of thousands of subscribers.

That's no problem, I see you've sent me an e-mail with your details. I'll send you a copy of issue 23 and 24 when I process your order.
Cheers

I just sent the email. I see you would like contributions. Would you be interested in a tutorial section on topics such as:
1) Using the RAD disk with ADFs 2) Using the Assign command 3) Building script files and the S folder
I have OS3.1 and these would be written based on that OS. While there are many advanced users, there also appear to be many that are still struggling with the basics.
I remember a section in Amiga World that spent time on such topics aimed at the new or returning user. _________________

After what I said in my previous post, although I am only an Amiga 600 owner I have ordered the latest issue (No.24 - July 2006). I'm not sure whether it will cater for me, but I'll give it a read, I'm sure there will be plenty of interesting Next-gen coverage. Last edited by eMike on 13-Oct-2006 at 12:20 AM.
