Currently we have only Wegster from the U.S and Bodie_CI5 from Australia from outside Europe. So imho a moderator from USA/Canada (and from South America too if we have a member there), is needed.
Not only thinking about the timezones here, also a moderator with the values from outside Europe would be of great help.
@Thread This is just my personal thoughts, not the staff opinion btw, so feel free to nominate suitable members in your opinion

| @number6 So, the _requested_ comment from those nominated was to simple say, 'OK, I'd be interested,' or 'No thanks.'
But, yeah, we could do with another mod from the US, any timezone really..

What about elatour (from Canada)? He would be well suited for the job I think. |

| @number6 Timezones are of secondary importance as this site is most active when europeans are awake, US and Europe timezones are enough as there is some overlap during hours when people are awake in these timezones.
What is of primary importance is that we find some people to replace those moderators that have had to step down for personal reasons (i.e. MikeB, Mikey_C and L8-X). We need people that are balanced, level headed and frequently visit the site. Last edited by DaveyD on 17-Oct-2006 at 10:14 PM.

Another issue, that -might- sound prejudicial, but really is -not-, concerns the knowledge of the English language. This is unfortunate, as there are those who well have the inherent skills to be great moderators, but not the accompanying language skills to be entirely successful. This opens the door once again to consider the possibility of a forum OR forums in other languages for those who might benefit from same. I don't know if you have the #s to warrant support for such dedicated forums. But this would certainly allow those with moderation skills, but not necessarily english language skills to participate and offer their talents to the website. If the idea has merit, but you feel the website would be burdened by this, you could consider the idea of promoting #iksnet, #safir, and any other irc channels focusing on a language other than english in order to benefit the community through better communication.

I agree, good english is important. Being calm, level headed, fair and fairly socially skilled are quite important aswell. Also open minded, but more into OS4 than the other Amiga clones. This is after all a OS4 centric site.
Btw I think we are too few here for splitting parts of the site into several languages.

Possibly, but I am currently looking at the channel list on irc and I see that #safir currently has the 3rd greatest number of users of any channel on irc here.

Yes, most of them are consider "a evil doers" but I bet they could "bring a balance to the force". |
E-gads, am I considered an "evil doer"? Where have I gone wrong? _________________ Moxee AmigaOne X1000 AmigaOne XE G4 I'd agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong. |
