Team

For those of you that don't know what this is about... read here first: DiscreetFX offer to purchase of Amiga.INC

I understand that these negotiations can be sensitive and need to happen behind closed doors, but is there anything that you can share with us...

In particular:

Has Amiga.inc acknowledged your offer?
Have they made some kind of response?
Are things progressing?

Anything you can add would be appreciated.

Regards
Darren

I hope DiscreetFX have enough capital and cash for the hostile takeover.

In 2000, several investors from Asia plan to invest in Amiga Inc, but they are disappointed because the CEO is a truck driver and the CFO quit Amiga Inc. Unfortunately the 2nd CEO was involved in the fake business card prank.

I hope DiscreetFX have a good management team for Amiga Inc.

BTW why Bill Buck and Genesi did not buy Amiga Inc, Hyperion or Eyetech?

Didn't they try to buy Amiga when they worked under the name of Viscorp?

I think then even announced they had been successful at one point (which clearly didn't happen.) I'm sure BBRV can fill you in.

That would require actual cash flow of which I seriously doubt Genesi has any of especially with the recent increase in their management's meddling in the Amiga market again. When you are making sales in the 50,000 units category why in the world would you even glance at this market unless you were getting rather desperate for cash?

@asian

Because its not a publicly traded company. As in you cannot takeover company X if company X is not willing to sell and its privately held. Hostile takeover LOL.
at least last time i checked.

Hostile takeover? The most DiscreetFX can do is make an offer to Amga Inc.

More likely the investors were concerned that they would not get any return on a money losing venture.

The last time DiscreetFX answered any questions about their plan it became obvious they didn't have one.

Maybe for the same reason people tend not to buy swampland?

DiscreetFX made it clear from the beginning that they would pursue their purcase of Amiga Inc. after they finished making Oil Change. From the looks of their website, it doesn't look like they have finished with the movie yet.

@jorkany

And I do not think they ever will. Unless this is a movie that is meant to only appear at large indie festivals such as Sun Dance, to me this is a pure ploy in order for DFX to gain capital from investors to buy A.inc.

In other words most likely nothing will happen on their part and DFX's manager just expressing his wishful thinking.

That's how I spend alot of my time, wishful thinking. Not just about Amiga of course.

I think we might be able to use the movie site as a barometer.
http://www.oilchangemovie.com/
How goes the Oil Change movie, so goes DiscreetFX's Amiga project.

Seems they're counting on the recent success of other documentaries.
Some examples....
FAHRENHEIT 9/11 Production: $6mil US Gross: $222mil US
March of the Penguins Production: $8mil US Gross: $122mil US
SUPER SIZE ME Production: Only $65K US Gross: $28mil US

And a list of others....
http://documentaries.about.com/od/basics/tp/top10gross.htm

If they have similar success, who knows. Even if Amiga doesn't happen for them, I hope the have good luck with the movie non the less.

We prefer paranoid delusional cult members thank you very much.

According to Genesi's senior management team the reason they are still posting in forums and wasting time with us is because:
Quote:
We have to admit. The desire to advance with Amiga may be very hard to explain after all these years. We can try to delve into that one day. We have explained some of this in our blog...

Well if that isn't a clear and well thought out business plan from the senior management team at Genesi for meddling in our community I don't know what is. Paraphrased, "I don't know. It is too complicated. Read my blog again." That just oozes with confidence. With such confused and bewildered leaders like this I wonder why Genesi hasn't had massive success after all these years.

I'm not saying Amiga Inc. etc. are any better but for a second there I thought Genesi might actually have an edge (e.g. shipping products). Alas it seems Genesi's management are yet another victim of the reality distortion field that the Amiga casts upon its victims. Pity.

@Plaz

The thing is though until they release some kind of trailer, I don't really trust that they are really going forth and producing that movie as we speak. Also judging by the "all star cast such as Killer Twink (lude reference to Twinkies)" I have a feeling that it is either a hoax or CGI flick and consider the US Buzz Records they linked seems to be out of business, the UK one is still running.

The most sensible sounding answer I've seen from bbrv iabout why they still bother with Amiga stuff or the OS4 community, is that they've used AmigaOS for a long time, and like it. It's too bad that it seems hard to get such simple answers at times...

While I am arguable with some things they say, or the way they say them even when I agree with what they say, this is the best comment I've ever seen from them. No fancy big words or overreaching claims, no weeding through numerous links to blogs that sometimes look like they were written by John Kerry (lots of words, but what was actually said??), etc. This was a nice straight answer. I hope to see more like it from them.

If we start reaching 2008 with no news, then I'll be siding more with your assesment. It's got to be a lot of work to do a project like this, so I won't be suprised if updates are months aways.

>legal problems between Hyperion and Amiga Inc.

Why Hyperion did not buy Amiga Inc or rights for AmigaOS 4.0 brand from Amiga Inc?

Access Inc Japan had bought PalmOS from Palm Source Inc. Recently they terminated/resell the PalmOS brand back to Palm Source and rename the OS as GarnetOS.

Do they have enough cash/asset for the purchase of Amiga Inc or AmigaOS 4.0 brand?
Do they have good management team, good CFO etc?

My god, you actually *believe* that they are doing this for *cash*? You actually believe that there is any money to be earned in the current Amiga (so called) "market"?
