DvPlayer OS4SE version only supports MPEG1/2 files (and VOBs). In addition to that the registered version supports AVI files. It'd be good to know what file format those files are that you're trying to play, can you paste here the text output mplayer makes when opening one of those files? |

But my main interest wasn't in the fact that DvPlayer will or not play it (I understand that it can not support every codec on earth) but rather the fact that it seems to read most of the file before even trying to play (or refuse to). MPlayer starts playing it after almost 23 secs, on the other end DvPlayer started to load it without ever displaying anything neither returning with an error, I waited so long that finally I decided to reboot rather than wait (what, I don't understand how, invalidated my partition Does DvPlayer write something when trying to read the video ? Because I don't see how my partition can be invalidated with only read accesses.)_________________ AOS 4.1 : I dream it, Hyperion did it ! Now dreaming AOS 4.2... Unfortunately, when trying to view the episode over my girlfriend's house on her Windows XP PC, I was unable to view it. Neither Microsoft's Windows Media Player or Apple's QuickTime would play the AVI file, which was in an H.264 container format. I tried downloading the appropriate codecs, only to discover a complete lack of administrator privileges. . |
With VLC player you would not have had problem to see that avi :)_________________

No, DvPlayer doesn't write anything to hard disk. Sounds really strange. Can you send me, say the first 10-20MB of that file so that I can have a look at what's going on? You can use a split program to extract the beginning of it. |

Ok, I'm generating a 10m extract using split that comes from the SDK. I'll PM you a link where you'll be able to download it. Thank you for your interest. _________________ AOS 4.1 : I dream it, Hyperion did it ! Now dreaming AOS 4.2... Thank you to all devs involved for this great job ! |

Have you tried the portable version of VLC Player from Portable Apps? The whole Portable Apps suite with all bells and whistles runs on a 512MB USB stick with no hassles or problems - Best of all you don' need no steenkin' Admin Privileges to run.!_________________ logicalheart wrote: You know that pretty sound you play when the computer starts? Got it, thanks. It's an MPEG stream, but not an MPEG video stream or MPEG system stream, I have not seen a file like this before. I'll see if I can add support for such files in the next release of DvPlayer. |
