Can someone with access to eligible hardware send AmigaMac a message and beg him for the file so we can see a real test?

This is actually interesting.

@ALL

Message to community:

Also in Italy we discovered this thread too and we are all curious about it...

On IkirSector site italy it was opened a thread from one of our Amiga friends who read comment nr. 44 from HammerD on this page believing this wannabe loader.iso is from Acube Moana.

Link to italian discussion:

http://www.ikirsector.it/forum/viewt...er=asc&start=0

link to comment nr. 44 by HammerD on this site:

Quote:

I've looked at the contents of the mac-specific files and it appears to be from the Moana project, which was a port of OS4 to the Mac Mini by ACube Systems.

I just talk today at 13:30 circa to a representative from ACube who said there is no project advancing except those related with Classic Amigas, due to current legal issues.

When I read him some of the names of the files, he assured me that this is no MOANA, at least he must ask to the technician, because those sounds no common to him, and Moana should not work as described by installation from wannabe user AmigaMac who posted this wannabe loader...

Also he wonders if this wannabe loader.iso could be a christmas joke to raise again the interest of the community to new hardware, outside new Amigas or Classic Amigas, but sure it definitely not comes from ACube.

Also, from his personal point of view, advices you not to download and run that software, because it could cointain malicious code from some evil coders, and it could harm to your Macintosh Machines...

ACube takes no responsibility because these files are not coming from their side, and they know nothing about it. It could be a serious danger for your Macintosh machines.

No kidding!

I asked also on an a well known italian Mac forum, if there are any MacOS X Software gurus, and experts in Macintosh security who could analyze this wannabe loader.iso and tell me if it causes any damage to macintoshes, or could cause any harm to your current Macintosh installations.

I will report you any response, stay tuned.

So wait for the response...

And maybe, in the meanwhile, why don't you do something better?

Ask yourself any software guru from Macintosh, if you known one, if he could analyze this software...

Also the name of the guy who posted this thread here, it remembers me of this site:

http://amigamac.wikispaces.com

Thank you for your kind attention...

B.t.w.

This loader it is laying around since yesterday at 20:00...

It is not possible that various people tried it and none succeded and none posted any reponse?

Is that an hoax? a real thing? malicious code?

Please tell us in public your feedback

@Raffaele

read my last post and the follow the links there. They lead to a poster in that thread claiming to have one of the devs testing it and getting it running.

@kriz
NOTE. Amigamac never claimed that this WAS the moana files. But rather aos4 working for testing purposes on a very limited number of macs minis (obviously the ppc version).

Let's not cry wol^H^H^H hoax before we actually know diddly.

This wiki site is mine. I hadn't heard any of this leaked file rumors until this very thread, and I'm very sceptical that any of that rumor is true.

@Severin who said Quote:

This is the internet you know - delete it in one place, and it pops up in 10 others!

BTW, on an entirely unrelated note, try looking towards the bottom of this Italian discussion about the abime post: MODERATED LINK!

So it does not seem like a hoax.

Amiga Inc's lawyers is all over this soon I guess.
I'm not sure how they gonna use it but I am
quite sure the news hit headquaters by now.

What's wrong with linking to another discussion about the abime post? Next you'll tell me I'm not allowed to post a link to abime either:
***linked removed by myself, since the files under discussion were apparently from a stolen laptop***
(just like at the start of this thread)

@Thread

If this story makes the lawsuit go wrong, the people behind this should be placed on the same boat as Mehdi Ali and the other guy.
What a shame!

@ChrisH

The problem is the link to possibly pirated material. While I certainly can't do anything on other sites, and wouldn't want to either, but this site has taken a clear stand against it. There for we don't allow links to it either. Now I know you just hit a gray zone with this one, and maybe some other moderator will correct me, but this is how I chose to handle it.

Regards,
Joachim Birging

@zerohero
I didn't link to any (possibly) pirated material, but rather only an Italian site discussing the abime post like we are here . Perhaps we are not allowed to link to Google either, because it might be used to find pirated material?!?

(And yes, I realise this is a potential grey zone, but I'm taking a devils advocate position here. I don't mind what AW.net decides, just as long as there are clear-cut rules that are consistently applied.)

I'd like to know if it's real or a hoax too. It'll no doubt be extremely annoying for Amiga Inc, who seemingly want to throttle all potential OS4 hardware. Although a quick search on Ebay didn't turn-up any PPC Mac Minis, so maybe they don't need to worry...

I'm inclined to believe it is *real*, given his behaviour up till now, even though no-one has apparently been able to (or will to admit to) get it to work yet.

P.S. Given the (semi-official?) denial coming from ACube, my current sig might have some bearing on the matter

Well, perhaps these weren't so popular in England, what do I know?

But when I looked earlier here in Germany I found plenty of G4 equipped MacMini's on EBay.
And it looks like these are all selling like crazy.

Ah, thanks, "G4" works, where-as "ppc" didn't (along with "mac mini"). The going rate seems to be £200 (US$400). (edit: And no, I don't intend to buy one myself.)
