Will there be an update for UBoot included with the OS4.1 update?

You mean after all the complaining about what needs to be fixed in UBoot?! So the Sam440 users get the latest UBoot and we get NoBoot? I just don't know if I will be buying this. Do we get full versions of DVPlayer and a fully working native version of IBrowse even?

i don't think we will see another U-Boot version for the AmigaOne. this doesn't mean that other platforms that use U-boot doesn't have a new UBoot version..

As Afxgroup said, better forget about more UBoot updates for the AmigaOne.
It is the newest OS4-hardware we have, so a bit strange, I agree.

Sam440 is not OS4-hardware any more than other PPC-mobos are, intentions might be there, but nothing viable has really progressed during the past years on the OS4 to Sam440 front.

So UBoot updates to SAM are not OS4 related at all really, as it is.

Regarding DVPlayer, just register it.
For IBrowse, Stefan has said that the next version of IBrowse (3.0) is going to be PPC-only, but when it will come, only he knows, and IBrowse is a standalone program like DVPlayer, we can just be thankful that OEM-versions of them are included with OS4.

IBrowse and DVplayer are only provided as unregistered bundled software.

they where never part of AmigaOS4.

I know I need one to fix that incredibly annoying problem when only a USB keyboard is connected:

Resetting keyboard....
Attempting to reset keyboard again...
Can't find keyboard, retrying...
No keyboard found, retrying...

Eventually it gives up. I'm sure it can't only be me who has no PS/2 keyboard attached.

It isn't just the USB-bug?

What USB bug is that? If you mean the debounce one, then no it isn't.

This is purely a U-Boot bug - I have input set to USB keyboard, yet it still attempts to find and reset a PS/2 keyboard. USB keyboard works fine once it finishes, it just adds 30 seconds to the boot process unnecessarily.

I mentioned it years ago and it was acknowledged (and perhaps fixed), but obviously we haven't seen a U-Boot update since then.

Reason #1 for an updated U-Boot/SLB for AmigaOne: Ability to boot from JXFS.

Hmmm true.... boot from the new filesystem and that keyboard thing. i lately tested my mouse+keyb on usb instead of ps2 port and got that error every time which makes the booting longer ;(

Yes, I referred to the debounce one.

Btw, it does not work with "setenv stdin usbkbd " ?
If not, then I agree it is a bug that does need fixing asap.

My own bug, Terratec Aureon in combination with AGP-Radeon 7000 VE does not matter to me anymore, I changed gfx-cards.

No that's a problem with uboot. I had that problem with my USB keyboard (changed to a ps2 now) and there was a topic also that I guess can be find here at aw.net. I also remember reading that it has been fixed in uboot so there should be a new version released.

@hotrod

Are you sure it is just UBoots fault?

Some keyboards does not follow the usb-standard 100%.
Also, there can be trouble on the x86-side as well, got a bunch of new Dells at work who are very unreliable with usb-keyboards.

I'm pretty sure, yes. Allthough I've only tried this keyboard pretty much everyone on that topic had the same problem. It's just that uboot checks if anything is connected to the ps/2 port and you got to wait for it wich takes a while and is pretty anoying. It got nothing to do with usb-keyboards not working because they work very well with the latest a1 version of uboot.

me here. but eventually I connected a ps2 keyboard too since I don't want to wait 30 sec more to boot the system. Also sometimes when OS4.0 hangs it's not possible to reset using the usb keyboard, or moving the mouse. one has to fall back to ps2 mouse or keyboard. that's annoying too but is related to interrupts or so AFAIK.

USB keyboard doesn't work in U-Boot at all without that, so of course it's set! The PS/2 keyboard reset happens regardless of that value, and it shouldn't - it should only occur if it is set to ps2kbd.

That's not quite as annoying as it's pretty rare and usually happens when a recoverable alert appears (and they time out after a while), if you get a string of them or can't be bothered to wait, then it's quicker to hit the case reset button.... oh, or it would be if it wasn't for the ps/2 keyboard reset bug in U-Boot!

Like? What exactly is the problem with U-Boot? Don't tell me "PCI Graphics cards in the Micro", because, as I pointed out a million times, that is nothing I can fix in U-Boot.

I fail to see the logic in this.
