I'll just repeat here for others who want to use the large ham8 screen for render:

(1)Click right mouse button on menu item at top "GrModes"
(2)Select "Graphics Panel"
(3)Click and make active each of the following:
"Hires"
"SuperHires"
"Ham"
"Ham8"
"Interlace"
"Super72"
For overscan width and height click on 896x640.
Be sure the numbers in the checkboxes above for "image size" and "display size" also show 896x640.
(4)Click "ok" to exit Graphics Panel

From now on, When you click render, you will indeed get a HAM8 896x640 screen with little to no visible Ham fringing.

Anyone with the OS4.1 Debug Kernel got VistaPro working? It instantly freezes my machine here? (Although I did cheat by tricking OS4's built-in screen utility to promote VistaPro's custom screen.)

Yes. Using #6 tips it works here on OS4.1 with debug kernel on a SAM. It still has the common problem that it freezes the machine *after* exit.

I think lots of 68k program crash at exit on AOS4+SAM. Hope this problem will be resolved or someone else know what we can do for not having this crahs at exit.

Yes, the OS4 method even crashed on exit randomly under OS4.0, as I stated in that post.

With ModePro, (the reference to post #31 of this thread), I have never had a crash on exit. Could be pure chance, or could be that "exit" has changed.

Even under 4.0 some apps that have been updated since early this year now crash on exit. One case (confirmed by afxgroup in a thread here) is MPlayer. Ergo, I'm not so sure you can tie this just to the 4.1 kernel.

I did roughly what was described in #12, and it did not work (froze on start). I do not have "P96-0:FAKENATIVE:640x480" in the screenmode list, but I do have "PAL:High Res Laced". My executable was named "VistaPro3", but I don't see this should make any difference...

ok. Could be the difference between my OS4final+July vs your OS4.1, until someone else confirms.
Regardless, the OS4 mode promotion never detected the 2nd screen (render), so it was impossible to define it. Hence one of the reason why I settled on ModePro, which detected it automagically.

Could it ever be possible to add Zorro and Video slots so it would be possible to run s/w like Video Toaster or Movieshop for Vlab Motion ? Or h/w hacks so you could run the s/w ?

on AOS3, the nomiami is also showed when using genesis but the tool opend fine finally. I think goportscan use a special mui class maybe not present on aos4 (seen that on snoopy).

even the last snoopy make here a DSI when started on AOS4 each time

Yes I think so, by trapping memory addresses and redirecting this to a PCI adapter card.
CIAA and CIAB, AGA and Zorro on PCI card

The problem is that memory allocator might think it can use these memory addresses, when they should be reserved for the hardware/software hack.

Depends. Most of these addresses would be used and managed by the OS. Zorro card hardware is one thing where you won't always see hardware banging. The expansion.library is used to find out where the card is and access it. And AFAIK it gives out the cards address space. Should be easier and more manageable than direct hardware emulation from a specific address.

I'm sorry to hear it crashes for you. Last time I checked it was working and I had no crash. I will retest it to make sure. Might be a MUI class clash in your system. Docs say what it needs?

I was not talking about address spaces on PCI card thats being taken care of as you say.

What I was talking about address space the custom chips are using on classic Amiga, this address spaces might be marked as free on AmigaONE or Sam440 system.

Okay so are going a it further than just a software emulation of a Zorro card in the system to be compatible with Zoro tied software.

So would we have here a reverse Mediator? A PCI card that accepts Zorro cards and has CIA chips/AGA onboard to complete the perfection?

Well as it stands OS4 has a 2GB address space. Custom chips sit below the 24-bit area. And OS4 already has traps for catching CIA hits. (Excuse the pun. ) And emulating mouse buttons. So this is quite possible. Might need a remap of memory in custom chip space to the PCI card. Should be a simple MMU setup.

Working Classic 68k Programs under OS4 Final on an AmigaOne:

OS4 configration - startup sequence has C:SetPatch ADDCHIPRAM 2 QUIET

Typically I increase the stack size in the program before running to something like 64000. (not sure if this is necessary, but many default to only 4096...so I thought I'd up it a bit).
