@danwood

Cool!

Sounds like Hyperion got everything they had wanted in the first place. Awesome!:

Quote:
the Amiga Parties acknowledge that Hyperion is the sole owner of AmigaOS 4 without prejudice to any third party rights.

Within the framework of the settlement agreement Hyperion is granted an exclusive, perpetual, worldwide right to AmigaOS 3.1 in order to use, develop, modify, commercialize, distribute and market AmigaOS 4.x (and subsequent versions of AmigaOS including without limitation AmigaOS 5) in any form, on any medium and for any current or future hardware platform under the exclusive trademark “AmigaOS” (Amiga operating system) and using other associated trademarks (such as the “BoingBall” logo).

Hyperion will continue development and distribution of AmigaOS 4.x (and beyond) as it has done since November of 2001.

Where's Tigger?!?!?

This is really great news!

The news can only get better if we see a port of Snowman Maker for OS4!!

"...and subsequent versions of AmigaOS including without limitation AmigaOS 5..."

So, Hyperion can develop an OS 5, it seems.

Is this because Amiga Inc are going to call their OS by another name?

Its been a long time. Dunno.

Glad to see Hyperion came out on top. I always felt they had the much stronger case. Even if Tigger were around though I'm sure he'd quickly point out that this is a settlement and not a court decision. Somehow I doubt he would change his stance that Amiga would have won in court in the end. I don't miss those threads battling with him over the court docs.

But all that is in the past, thats what is important now, this is great news for everyone IMHO!

Wow, this was unexpected! But I'm glad to hear I wasn't wrong about the court case . Hopefully Hyperion can be a bit more open about their plans now?

That's great! Finally there is clarity in the legal status of AmigaOS and no more tied hands for developers. I wish the best luck to Hyperion and a bright future for the OS development.

Heh, you do tell a good joke! Amiga Inc write an *OS*? Me thinks you are surely mistaken :)

I expect AI to be closed down soon now, because they have nothing more of value their investors might hope to sell to the highest bidder.

@ChrisH

maybe you're right.

an OS5 by Hyperion could be better than OSX, actually, don't you agree?

I have a feeling we will never know officially what Amiga Inc - Itec got out of this deal. Most likely it's money, but how much?
