| Can't wait any longer to find out what X is all about?
All the answers to the questions you never asked are right here!
Or are they? You'll never know unless you try

| @AlexC IMHO seems a bit in poor taste to mislead people about MAP in your post, unless my funny bone is missing... Although I'm sure the archive itself may contain some useful stuff.

But that is the best thing you can do about the MAP. The Friedens used to play with the Amiga fans, ok it is time to play with their soap opera styled announcements.
I would not be supprised if the 'X' is nothing more than a Unix styled API ( or a nwe Kernel ) or an X11 API for AOS4.x the Friedens talked long enough about Posix compatibility, maybe this is exactly what it means ...
Posix compatibility means going Unix_________________ AmigaONE. Haha. Just because you can put label on it does not make it Amiga.

Not necessarily. Microsoft Services for Unix implements Posix on top of the NT kernel.

Neat, I tried entering om and enigma in there and got a few interesting ones, which could be completed like:
image mon(itor) amigo men amig(a) omen i am gone m(ad) amino gem me go main(stream) omni game magi(c) omen gian(t) memo(ry) main g(en)ome (i)magine mo(re)

Tsk. U don't get it? Omenigmaeon.gif expanded it borrows a few letters from each preceding word omen enigma aeon or omenigmaeon Aeon a one? The whole thing is mathematical imho. _________________ Never underestimate the bandwidth of a station wagon full of tapes hurtling down the highway.

If Amiga then will require a Unix/Linux kernel to evolve and will be not capable of using existing Kernel by evolving it in an AMIGA-ISH way, then you could be right and it will be no more Amiga but just an AMIGA-IZED LINUX.
If Amiga will evolve with its own legs, however I will continue considering it Amiga.
If Amiga will require external OSes to evolve, then I will consider it NO AMIGA.
There is a slight difference in the two modes in which actual Amiga could evolve.
1) Writitng new functions in Amiga kernel, all well written and tied in harmony with the previious Amiga incarnations.
Then it is an Amiga.
2) Pick up an Alien kernel and make it work with Amiga filesystem and amiga style desktop.
Then it is no Amiga, but just an alien kernel mock up to resemble Amiga look and feel
(Just an example to let you understand:
As long as in Apple they were not capable to evolve further their their previous MacOS 9, then Apple engineers developed Mac OS-X using brand new MACH kernel, FreeBSD multitasking capabilities, a new interface engine Darwin, and they mixed it with standard Mac desktop appearance.
That is really no original Mac anymore, but as long it recalls more or less the same experience for the user, people are content. But it is no original MacOS anymore. it is a completely different thing called with the same name.)

Absolutely not.
We have Amiga IXemul.library that grants major amounts of POSIX features by running as quite any normal Amiga Library.
Search in Sourceforge for IXemul.Library. latest version is 62.1 released Nov 10 2009
