The AmigaOne X generation will come with a variety of CPUs, conforming to the Power ISA 2.04 and newer standards.

Good news

As is all the rest.
Now I might actually buy a new Amiga again

Great work Hyperion!

@xe54

After a bit of googling, the processor looks for AMCC Titan,
the APM 83290
http://www.embeddedstar.com/weblog/2009/10/16/amcc-apm-83290-soc/

or not ? :)

Only 10 USB ports?

Looks like a good use for the Xena chip would be to drive the USB I/O!

That sounds very, very good.

Now, let's make some money for buying a new high-end amiga.

Thanks to all for making this possible.

@Treke

I think we must keep CES 2010... it might reveal more.

Considering that SID emulation is possible, I suspect one of the first 'hobbyist' projects for one (or more) of the XMOS chips will be implementing OCS/ECS/AGA emulation... Let the CPU handle the USB ports as Intel intended.

Interesting. Note that the XMOS chips are pretty cheap. The XS1-L1 is only about 8 USD, which makes me really wonder why they didn't put a XS1-G4 on it which is only 10 USD more, but 1600 MIPS instead of 400...

@Thread
I see infinite potential there, thanks to Xena and the Xorro slot we get something that is more expandable (data crunching wise) than an A2000 (a 102000 mips potential) add to that PCI-E 16X and all the power you can get from a high end Graphic Card through OpenCL and you have the potential for an authentic MONSTER.

Moreover they say we will see several PPC Cpus which means that part is also going to change in time.

My guess is the Titan Dual Core (not very available today but will be, as in the description) moreover AMCC also has a Quad Core with 2MB cache down the line so it would be their best bet (and remember that it is only a small part of the overall design).

@jeanluc72

There will never be anything worthy to replace your trusty ol' A1000!
And i'm the owner of 3 looking to "adopt" even more when i get the chance!
In my opinion, there's never been a more revolutionary, reliable, and sexy computer than the A1000.
But then again, that's me talking.... Wish i had the whole production lot!

@all

My timing was only off by 45 mins... Ah well.

Specs look nice... someone said on IRC that 1.5ghz won't be the actual clock... more like 1.2ghz.

But it's still a Dual-Core Amiga Hard to believe i'm saying that!

Hopefully all my work on learning multi-core programming won't be wasted!

Someone talked about Ray Tracing capabilities? What's Avatar got to do with it? Where are they in all this?

Or maybe I dreamt it...

Avatar is the film the guy who made the website is going to watch now all the work is done.

I've seen the film, it's damn good, I reccomend anyone who hasn't, go and see it! (But in 3D, not the 2D version )

@all

They state on the X1000 site that

"As Commodore did with the A1000, we're aiming at the high-end first, with a powerful desktop computer aimed at the professional and serious hobbyist markets (although you won't have to wait until summer, and it should be a little cheaper!)"

I think they mean that the A1000 was released in Summer 1985 (July 24th) and cost 1295 USD.
The X1000 will be less expensive and out before the Summer..... !!!

BUT

Is that less than the 1985 1295USD or the equivalent today of 1950USD ???
